I was heading up to manfeild later today for the Vic club meeting and checked live timing there's a note Meeting Cancelled due to water on the circuit, although it says
august 18/19th.
18/19th august is midweek dates so I assume it's refering to this weekend.
Is the meeting still on? If not today are they going to look at it again tomorrow?
Anyone help please

Yup, was on hold till 12 today due to water over track (and not just a little bit) then it rained a lot more. Then there was lightening and it rained harder so both days cancelled to save people hanging around over night. That and some of the roads are getting marginal for people to get home.

Yep Mother Nature at her best and this weekends Cancellation of the Round 5 meeting was completely out of the Vic Clubs control as we all know we cant argue with her upstairs.
Keep your fingers crossed that Round 6 will be nice and sunny and that we can all get out there and enjoy this Fantastic Sport that we all are so passionate about.
See you all then ok?.:woohoo::yes:

W left the circiut about 11am headed for Wanganui. We nearly got cleaned up by a slip just west of Turakina & had to turn around under it while it was coming down. Believe me, it was a serious pack undies situation. I hear tonight that it came down big time shortly after.

So: Do we (Vic Club and competitors) get a refund from Manfeild? Seems that the track flooding is an infrastructure problem due to inadequate drainage and/or poor design and maintenance of the same, as it occurs often when there is more than a little rain. And the transponder hireage charges, completely unused tomorrow (Sunday) how about a refund for those as well?

Regarding entry fees etc, you will need to talk with the club direct about that, but are very confident all will be good there.

As far as the VIC club getting there money back from the track itself 100% Yes, I hired it last year for a training day that was rained off, I asked and recieved all money back.

Yea left wellington at 6.30 to pick up a milling machine in hunterville and thought I would call in on the way home but had to divert through marton as there was flooding so did a runner for home instead and in wellington it was fine go figure.

Yep, was gutted to see sun on the way back to Wellington.

Although I was glad that I didn't have to go trudging through the mud just to get some photos :pinch:

I really really hoping that the 2 day event is able to be picked up in the next couple of weeks.. but me living 10 mins away from the track its alot easier than for others...

Bring on R6 and this time SURELY it has to be fine! seriously!

The her upstairs l am referring to is Mother Nature who none of us can control when she lets rip with the weather, and when it comes to finding out about refunds Please give the Vic Club time to make a decision to which once they have they will then let all of you know what is happening regarding this issue.

Quite the opposite here. I'm just hoping this round is actually cancelled and not postponed as can't afford another day off work, 2 days garage hire and 2 nights in a motel, especially at short notice. Last time this happened at Taupo ('bout 4 years ago) I think they gave the Vic Club a day's discounted circuit hire for the following series. Wouldn't argue with a trackday or one off event though if circuit management come to the party. Can't see the Vic Club offering refunds though as they've still incurred the usual expenses.

I feel for the club cause a lot of effort goes into organising meetings and the people who are running the day get just as excited as those racing. However, in saying that, the track hire will be refunded so there should have been something come back to the riders - less the fixed costs the club had to pay for. We were told though, that our transponder hire and day license fee wouldn't be refunded, so I am just a little bit naffed off with the Vic Club about that! Those two things cost them nothing but cost us $100! When you combine that with $300 in petrol, $250 motel and $135 entry fee it's a lot of freaken money wasted for nothing. We also wanted to pull out earlier in the week as this storm was well predicted and were pressured by the Vic club to be there due to sidecar numbers but were told if we didn't come we would get our entry fee refunded......

You may want to check just exactly what the club does and doesn't have to pay for. Some of your assumptions are a bit off.

Hey bud, would love to be corrected. I'm just re-iterating what has been told to me buy club officials :) But like they say never believe anything you hear and only half of what you see......

I was very impressed that the Vic club had finally changed the program around and tried to give f1 some more track time.

Very unfortunate about the weather this year though. From what I have been told the track hire will be credited to the next hire so maybe we will get a 2 day round next round?

Will be interested to hear the outcome

fingers crossed for R6 becoming a 2 day event.... or 2 days and one free pactice day..... ... ..

I would hope that whatever fix costs be taken partly on the chin by both the club and the riders. It wasnt ideal but it wasnt a big surprise either! The storm was forcast from a week out.

that's a fair point as on the day the club wouldn't be aware of all the ins and outs of it and any comments made on teh day should be taken with a grain of salt.
Wait till paeroa's wet and called off, that'll end in tears. hopefully they have hampton downs booked as a back up?

Can't comment on the latter but as far as I know the transponder hire is done through Tim Gibbes Track Timing. To be fair to Tim, he's entered all the riders details, turned up with his staff and equipment and probably incurred the same expenses as the 2 day event. That said, it would surely be just good long-term business sense for him to come to the party and offer 1 days free hire for those affected?

I'm hoping Round 6 stays as it is... a one dayer. I have a far more pressing engagement on the Sunday and will depart on Saturday night regardless.

I do commend the committee for making the decision to cancel the whole round. Not sure if it was forced on them by Manfeild or not, but I think it was the right call at the end of the day. Of course that is easy for me to say as I was staying just 10mins down the road... I know there were Aucklanders in a garage on one side of me, and Cantabrians on the other side. Shame for them with all their travel expenses etc.

But hey, that's racing huh?

The transponders are through Tim Gibbs & if he charges the club the club should pass it to the riders, as for the day licenses once the license has been written
on, it can not be used again & costs the club $20 ?

Tim charges the club for his time....that should be included in the entry fee. The transponder hire fee is to pay for the maintanence of them (told to me by Tim himself) - surely no use no maintenance....

Doesn't cost the club anything when the licenses aren't logged with MNZ....and even if they did cost $20 (which they don't), refund us the $10 cause we paid $30...

I'm fully aware the club will have costs they need to pay and I am prepared to wear those in my entry fee if I really have to (not happily) but come on fair is fair - at least refund the things we've paid for that cost them nothing.

Funny really, you all have time to post assumptions on here, but no one seems to have time to email direct or even pick up a phone, to the club and ask them first hand, bizzare really, when the VIC club is by far the very very best run club racing scene in New Zealand, and has been for over 20 years now.
