Weds 22 Sept is designated car free day in Wellington by the powers that be (the regional council) and you can win prizes and cash....but only if you catch a bus, cycle or walk to work. The regional council thanks very much all the scooterists and motorcyclists who ordinarily commute into the city creating less congestion and less green house gases as a result. But you are kindly excluded from this competition as you can see here by following this link:

If you are finger-in-the-throat sick of this big brother feel goody good self congratulatory claptrap then my suggestion is flood the email competition with your entries and claim the prize on behalf of motorcyclists everywhere!
Yes this is my first post, excuse the rant but I'm sick of social fascism and don't fancy a bus ride that often, or to be dressed in tarty lycra sweat panties pushing pedals. It just adds to the bull@#$%& in the world thanks very much.
Oh and take it to the local and regional politicians as well, with elections coming up, put the q's to them such as:
What is your understanding of motorcyclists as road users and what are the issues affecting this group that you intend to address? (ACC, road design etc..)
What do you intend to do when elected to promote the rights of motorcyclists as legitimate road users and commuters in your city/region? (Improved parking/road safety/free coffee mornings?)
Thanks for yer time

Sorry the Greater Wellington Regional Council traffic plan doesn't mention motor cycles so you two wheelers out there need to bring your cars that day to make up for it.

If it gets people out of cars & onto public transport it makes my commute even more enjoyable :niceone:
Although I've a serious question for you, does your free coffee mornings include a free muffin ?

Shit, the prizes must be good if you got that wound up about it.
It’s a car free day isn’t it ? So the idea is to get people out of cars on to other transport. Buses, bikes and feet don’t need a licence whereas having a bike does. Can’t see them promoting getting out of the car and on to your motorbike. Why wouldn’t you commute on a bike if you had one anyway ?
Can’t see why you are getting worked up. Should be less traffic to deal with.

So I guess that means that there will be extra buses laid on, and there won't be any problems with the trains on Wednesday.
What a load of sanctimonious clap trap. I can't even use public transport to get to work, and it would be three times the cost of taking my bike. Walking/cycling would be soooooooooo much 'greener', but that Ngauranga Gorge is a bit of a swine at the end of the day.

Perhaps putting your bike on a trailer and towing it in to work using your car, would be more entertaining!

Can you please make sure that all 8 are running?

Well going by my ride in this didn't work.
But it is bloody annoying you got all these retards running round going "more economical" "green house gasses" "pollution" "environment" yet will fail to recognise or completely ignore Motorbikes, which are the "Greenest" and most economical mode of transport.

...... does your free coffee mornings include a free muffin ?
Dunno, but I have free muffin-top with or without free coffee
Good on Wellywood for making a starter of this. Can't see car-loving Aucklanders ever going for it though. ($200 wouldn't be sufficient incentive for rich Aucklanders for a start :dodge:)
