Hey guys, just introducing myself;

Handsome 43yo male seeking 18yo female companionship.

JOKES! :bleh:

Hi I'm dylan (19) just got my first bike almost a month ago (GN250, 2005), got my gear and am learning the ropes!

I'm having fun learning and accepting any tough experiences, speaking off i think the worst was almost two weeks ago, I drove up a one way street, half way through I was like ohhh shit this is getting quite steep!!! :gob:

Anyways I thought hopefully it levels out at towards the end, however it didn't quite do that, I was soo scared I would completely turn over the bike if I tried to you turn around as I wouldn't be able to balance the bike on the steep slow at slow speeds... so I just froze and stopped...

Unfortunately that was when I realised the bike was wanting to fall over and was quite heavy for me to lift, I had to put it down (on the ground lol) ... tried to lift it back up... couldn't (wasn't lifting it from the right side really) so I thought i'd try it without my gloves and helmet,

I take off my gloves and helmet, and my helmet ROLLS DOWN THE HILL hahahaha :bye:

1 min later after some petrol had leaked out, some legendary dude came out of his house and helped me lift it up :o and off i went!

Anyways hi there!

I was wondering if anyone knows a place where I can practice my cornering??? (i.e. not straight roads) in auckland... I would sort of prefer not going over the harbour bridge to north shore roads just yet!

Thanks! :D

Hi there Dylan, and welcome to KB. There are some real arseholes on here so watch out.

Question. What sort of poofter can't lift a GN250 when he drops it?

Welcome mate, good choice on an excellent learner bike. Things like you have described are part and parcel of learning the ropes, you won't be doing it again I bet. Great first post, there are plenty of people on here to offer you advice and encouragement.

I can't lift my m50 up either... does that make me a poofter too? :bleh:

Welcome Dylan to KB - it's a bloody mad house in here but you will meet some pretty awesome folk if you stick around.

Good luck with the learning. Can be a stressful experience, but once you start to get through your teething problems, things start to become fun, really quickly!!! :)

Go hard and stay safe

Hi niker , a good place to practice is any big supermarket / hardware store car park when the place is closed,

If you struggled to get it back up then definitely DO NOT EVER park facing slightly downhill. About 2 months ago when I was starting out I parked mine on a downhill but into the kerb so it wasn't going to roll anywhere - turns out it's a LOT harder than you'd expect to reverse uphill :o
I don't take any chances anymore. I won't park it any lower than the slightest of downhills, but even then I'd rather just turn it around and face uphill and in gear.

I am dying to know which side is the wrong side of a motorcycle so that next time I can make sure I only drop it on the correct side.

Hi Niker,

checkout free mentoring courses in your area, for example; NASS if you're on the North Shore or SASS if you're near south Auckland.

Have fun
