Anyone seen this smart looking machine?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=318931546

I quite like the look.

Wanting to buy a black GT250R and kit out in a similar fashion.

What to look for in a 2nd had Hyosung? Any stand out things?
Just want a cheap bike that is 250 and is all round good hence Hyosung contrary to what some of you might say.

If the stock battery is still in it dont expect it to last much longer.
If the last owner serviced it themselves don't trust that they fastened the front sprocket securely, the locking washer is rubbish on these and cant be relied apon, correct torque and a tiny dab of blue locktite is recommended.

The rear shocks used to lose all of their gas and turn into a po-go stick. Don't know if that's been fixed in the last couple of years or not.

so pretty much thats it specifically apart from usual stuff?
where do you get tail tidys for them from? & led indicators?
Want to make it like that bike in question

I had one and learned on it, and honestly, if I could do it all over again, I'D AVOID IT LIKE THE FUCKING PLAGUE.

The engine blew up with the rear piston deciding to see what the outside of the crankcase looked like, taking the conrod and the crankshaft with it.

I would recommend that if you do buy one that you treat it nice as they don't take kindly to having their limits tested.

Get a Ninja over that if you want a new 250.

HMmm yea it just comes down to price, its just going to be something to ride around for summer, max spend 5K strictly.

Get a CBR250RR pre-93. Stuff the EX250 Ninja twin, they're slower than a wet week and a Hyoslag is slower than a wetter week. Neiither of them are "sporty" as far as 250cc machines go. On a 5K budget I'd get a CBR, do the fork seals, rip the airbox off and throw a decent end can on it and some 145 main jets. Done, ultimate 4 stroke 250.

Can I ask why the under four year old bikes? Not being a wanker, just asking.
The CBR are a very very solid bike and last very well. Because of the seriously huge amount of expertise put into them and no corners were cut.

the older 250's are pretty sexy.

i'd bargain this price down and the money you save, buy some good gear or treat it to a pimp service.

You can't go wrong with either. Many people ride Hyosungs without any problem. Test ride them both at a dealer and see what you like best. I thought the Hyosungs engine was crap compared to my 89 Kwaka. Eveything else seemed fine.

Magazines tend to give the Ninja the nod over the Hyo but only just.

Cheers might go look at some at a dealer to compare

Found a couple possible contenders both hyo and ninja on trade me

I'll agree the newer bikes do look fairly nice.
Have you considered a VTR? Very good little bikes.
Try them all on for size and you'll know anyway, as far as I am aware all the debut problems with the Hyosung bikes have been ironed out, they seem to give stuff all problems now.

Ride safe mate :scooter:  :sunny: and bloody enjoy it

I personally much prefer the older 250's, I owned a ZXR250C as my first bike and that was very nice and quick, 45hp rather than than 27hp you get with a new one. But depends what you want with your bike, the new Ninja is very nice to ride just not so much fun on the throttle.

The up right position of the newer 250's will be easier to learn on also.

I love the older ones, I think they're prettier, better built and we all know they are quicker, better handling and stop better.
I found the Hyo and EX250 somewhat boring :innocent:

Just went n had a sit on a few bikes.

The Ninja's are way to small for my lanky frame but surprisingly the Hyo felt really good and was a nice fit.

Also fits my budget better too and not looking for a massively flash bike but a nice tidy one so will prob stick with a hyo at this stage

The first link doesn't work but it's that stolen and recovered one i see from the auction number.
Check that second one out, looks like a bloody good deal.
That third one is very nice for a Hyosung, almost makes me want to try another 650R out. :shit:

I'd start by offering $4200 cash, but, it's a reasonable price as it is.

Have you considered these? They hold value very very well and are arguably the most reliable 250 out there, have seen several go around the clock and they still keep going, good old Hondas! Quite nice to ride too, much nicer than the EX250/GT250R

Keen?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=319767273

2008's had a few issues sorted out on them over the 06-07. The 09's had a few more i.e. dash and if I remember rightly fuel injection.

For me personally I would go for a '08+ but that's only because I hate the colour of the wheels on the 06's and 07's :) You should be able to find a tidy 08 for 5K now. I sold mine last year for $5,500.

Thanks for replys. Just want a cheap bike that looks good. The Hyo's are the only ones that feel good for size. I want a 250 that feels like a larger bike which a) I am used to and b) suits my lank frame. All other 250's seem just that. Too small.

Keen on that 3600 hyo, needs talking down from that price for what it is tho.

Keen on that 3600 hyo, needs talking down from that price for what it is tho.I would stay away from that. He isn't going to move on the price. That is why it has no reserve. And your fixing someone elses problems (unless you want to ride a scratched bike) and the rego is going to add to the cost.

This looks good.

Low K's
Apparently no marks/scratches
Less than 5 grand.

Yeah but the engine that it got replaced with had it's nuts thrashed off it.:innocent:

Didn't have a single problem engine wise in 10,000km.
