I am eternally indebted to the guys working on the site just before you get onto the Auckland Harbour Bridge going north. I was riding along going home and my bike started coughing and spluttering, so I switched to my reserve. Unfortunately I was already on reserve (which explains how I managed to get 375k out of a tank which usually does 350). I am so lucky that it happened at a place I could safely pull over and stop and not on the bridge. A couple of the guys working on the site asked me if they could help and I said that I'd run out of petrol. One of them went to get me some so I could get to the next station, but ended up giving me about half a tank. They wouldn't even take any money for it. I will take them some beers tomorrow I think.
So, thank you so much construction workers, you saved me today. And the moral of this storey... make sure you switch back to your main tank when you fill up.

yep sometimes to tool boys do good.
box a beers just before knockoff will go down a treat with them I imagine.
That or a feed.
Don't forget the letter to the council - saying how impressed you were at the workers of 'x' company. A little positive feedback goes a long way.

Think the main contractor is Fletchers but you've got multiple subbies on site. Also for H&S reasons the majority of construction sites are now booze free so a feed could be enjoyed right away.

Ill check who it was when I take it along. I would assume they'd save it till after work to drink.

Nice story! Probably no booze allowed on site though. Pisses you off when you run out of gas like that eh? I doubt there would be many of us that have not pushed a bike becasue we were distracted and forgot to the tap back to the on position. Bikes can be very heavy DAMHIK

Yeah, most of the sites I've worked on have been booze free during working times obviously but after work when everything is parked up its usually ok to have some beers.

I think it was Parsons & Brinckerhoff or Becca. They didn't even laugh at me, although I'm sure they must have after I'd gone, even I laughed at me.
