I'm currently building a cafe racer out of a CB200. I've put on a small bubble tail piece and want to mount the number plate on it's side on the left side of the bike, around the left rear shock.
Can I also mount the tail light there too? Or does it have to be on the back of the tail? Does it have to be seen from the side or so long as it can be seen from directly behind the bike.
Thanks.

I've got my plate and rear light on a left side mounting (mounted to rear axle bolt) and it passed it's WOF the other day with no comment. I have heard that the number plate has to be visible from the back at a certain angle, but not sure of the specifics. I did the same back in the UK as well, but also had a catseye light under the mudguard, just to be on the safe side. That was just so a light was also visible to anyone approaching me from the right rear.
Might be worth asking at your local WOF testing station as I certainly wouldn't claim to be an expert!

I've now been told that it has to be seen from 30 degrees from either side. That sounds do-albe.

Fwiw dont forget the "reflector" bit, when i first fitted this aftermarket rear on mine there was no reflector so no wof, simply bought a $10 one stick on one from a pushbike shop cut it in 1/2 and fitted, all good.

Good point. I'll need to fit one to my 600 for the next warrent too. That's a nice small you have.....
