Bought a 2010 R1 from Henderson Yamaha (http://www.hendersonyamaha.co.nz/) (Wairau Rd,Glenfield) a week and a half ago and now having just had its first service sorted, I thought it prudent to post up my thoughts.

Essentially, if you're after a Yamaha and demand fucking great service in all of the departments these are the guys to suss out.

Knowledgeable cheeky smart arses in every department with a genuine desire to help out and make your purchase an experience whilst also knowing that you're getting all the information required.
Is it hard for me to post up lovely things about my "opposition" (different brand)? Nope...they earnt it IMO

Thanks guys

Why would anyone put a full system on a road bike....Are they not fast enough standard....Or do you need to sell them with the pipe so buyers can think they are faster than GSXR's ?

I would of thought a spare pair of tyres $600 and some insurance $1000 would of been a better deal and maybe the 1st service free $250...That sounds like $2k of worth to me...:)

Positive rep due when deserved mate. As I mentioned,it's irrelevant to me that they are an 'opposing' shop. I was given good service and they deserve a positive mention
Tail tidy and a pair of carbon fiber Two Brothers cans were acquired before I even picked up the bike and a screen will come when I can be bothered :sunny:

I experienced absolutely terrible service at the wairau rd location. Specifically related to the service department. I understand there have been changes since then, but it's enough to not consider going back.

Lovely Jubbly, good to see you're still feelin' the R1 love. Speaking of TBR cans I popped a set on the 14 just recently, so much nicer than the SBK's that were on it. The SBK's sounded good enough but the look and build quality of that model was average at best.
Enjoy the new bike and keep it rubber side down yeah...

So are there now two Yamaha shops on the same corner or has Henderson Yamaha taken over from the Yamaha Shop that was already there?

Spearfish
2nd October 2010, 17:13
HSN Yamaha use Henderson Hire as a drop off/pick up point so its not a hassle for WoF or service.......apart from not being able to talk bollocks with a few laughs while tyre kicking the new bikes for half an hour or so.

Mmmmmmmm, yep sounds like good deals, also sounds like yamaha are getting desperate to unload r1 and r6's. Why not just lower the price instead.

Na a free set of Steak Knives will do the trick. Seems to work for those infomercials.
'If you call in the next 15 minutes not only will you receive your very own R6, we will throw in a set of titanium coated made in china crappy Steak Knives. But hurry stocks are limited. '

$1000.00 CASHBACK is LOWERING the price and you get over $2k worth of FREE pipes as well on the YZF-R1.

$600.00 CASHBACK and FREE Pipe as well on the YZF-R6.

Like I said why dont they just lower the price (thats 3 grand off a r1 if you have been sucked in with the advertising)

So you wouldn't like $2k worth of pipes for FREE if you purchased a new YZF-R1 ????

Because it costs $2k for you to buy the pipes, but it doesn't cost them $2k to sell you the pipes.

NZsarge

Personally I think the free set of pipes is a great deal (depending on what brand of pipes we are talking about) coz if I had just bought a cross plane crank R1 i'd be desperate to get aftermarket cans on it.. :devil2:

Exactly. This practice is called "Added Value"

Classic marketing tool which works very well.

If you were genuinely interested in purchasing a new R1/R6 and approached the Dealer you will no doubt be able to broker some sort of a deal...as I did.

Hey...at least Yamaha, like some other importers, are trying to stimulate the market and it will be the consumers that will benefit.

What is it with the west and bike shops? Wild West Honda gone and now Henderson Yamaha......is building leasing super expensive or something?? I can't believe it's lack of business as I'm sure there are just as many bikes out west as in any other area?
