I went for a ride up the hills today around Christchurch today, and I was braking for a corner when I hit a patch of gravel and locked the front wheel. The front wheel then started washing out from underneath me, so I released the brake and put my foot down. I ended up going off the road and onto the grass. I don't know how I managed to keep it rubber side down.

While I was recovering from the shock of that incident, I was going around a bend at around 100kmh when I hit a large bump which sent me into the start of tankslapper which nearly spat me off. I kept it under control, thankfully.

A couple of hours after that I ended up hitting another rather large bump while travelling in straight line this time, which only added insult to injury and was enough to just about warrant a change of undies.

All in a days work.

Now I really need a drink.

Would seem you could work a bit more on your situational awareness. Good work staying upright.

A close call from a few weeks back....

Me and the old boy scooting along just south of Raetihi, a dog is on the road, I cant see it but the oldboys slows down real quick and all of a sudden I'm catching up with him way too fast...so I pull to the right to go around him, fuck, there is a harvester approaching taking up the entire lane and the fucking dog he's slowed for is on the median strip, sensing certain death I change tact, pull left, foot hovering over the brake I take a nano-second to decide heavy braking is going to cause me to crash into him at speed, only a few feet between us now, he's near walking speed and I'm still up near the speed we had been doing, I pull her to the left and do a mad wiggle has I fly past him to avoid him, I hit his elbow with my shoulder.....

I'd assume there was a few mm between our bikes as I went past, and the entire fuck-up must have only taken 3 seconds max....

Thursday night ride months ago, I'm travelling down Kahikatea Flat Rd on a straight, and its dark. An oncoming car vears into my lane, heading towards me. For a second, I'm thinking, a crazy car trying to kill me? I ponder going into the oncoming just to avoid the crazy bastard, but as I do, he veers back into his lane.

Couple of seconds later, I notice a tractor in the oncoming, taking up the lane, no lights. I only notice him as I pass by, my lights illuminating the side of the tractor. That could have been so much worse... :shit:

Don't think I have had any calls so close I've actually gone off road, just the usual sliding because of slippery tar, tyre lost traction...
