Its probably too late now, being after the weekend.

But "Heads-Up" Guys

The first four or five km of the Lyttelton towards Governors Bay is in a bad state (and its not the earthquake)

There's been a crew out thrustboring (looks like for comms cables)

They've put it through just right on the 'safe' line for riding

And they have made a right pigs ear of their holes - which funnily enough appear right on corner apex's. Mostly unsealed, where there is gravel, its big river run, scrattered across the road. And there are enough hard edges to eat wheel-rims

And the crew is now a long way ahead of the last patch they actually did

We had to take evasive action more than once

Its Aboslutely Not Safe

The Contract Manager should be forced to go ride it

Then he launch the appropriate rocket up the Site Foreman's arse

I didnt get the name of who was doing the work - or I'd blast them directly, and I'll be giving the CCC a heads-up today

Take care out there

It was pretty crap when we went around there last wednesday night, but I don't think what you're describing was there yet. They were doing a similar thing on the summit road from the hilltop a while ago, as you said a nice narrrow trench right on riding line.

Pretty rapidly running out of good roads to ride.....

Looks like its been deteriorating rapidly - probably wasn't tht bad on Wed

Thrust boring doesnt leave a trench - just small rectangular holes on line at intervals - in this case the corner apex's

The give away is a line of 'depths' painted along the axis

Oh right, did see those, but we were heading from gov bay to lyttleton so they were on the other side of the road. Instead there were just potholes, corrugated corners, pine cones, clay and assorted other obstacles instead.

phew, glad I did bypass lyttleton then...
Was a last minute decision to head over the dyers, shesh and I thought it was bad just going through govs bay!

Summit Rd between Gebbies Pass Rd and the sign of the Kiwi is in rough condition as well. I nearly ended up going off a big cliff on that road a few days ago.
