Here we go with that age old question asked by some no-hoper that should know better. "What tyres should I buy?"
So I want the best possible rubber in the above sizes to suit my GSX550 ED. Everyone's going to say "Get some 17"s ya homo" and while I would, the budget's not there right now. Kickaha's suggested BT45s, anyone else got some thoughts?
Cheers

That'd be mint mate although I suspect there's fuck all around now days. Possibly Dunlop and Pirelli? What woulda been cool would be ME33 Comp K and an ME1 Comp K or ME55 (not sure how skinny they go though)
Fucken old bikes suck......

"Get some 17"s ya homo"
BT's will be fine, well up to or beyond the bikes capabilities.
There won't be much choice now-days unfortunately.
Once you find some I'd be interested in the price purely as a comparison between the 17's - after all I'd expect you to have to pay a premium above the equivalent, common 17's.

It's a pretty fucken trick GSX mate, and I ride really badly. You under estimate how well it needs to stick to the road me thinks.......

Pretty sure Malcolm had the same problem with getting tyres for his NC21 when he entered Wanga's last year...
He used pirelli speed demons (I think) and rates them....

Yeah I know that feeling. When I was road riding my GSXR it'd chew through a set every 3000-3500 kays. It cost more in tyres than it did in petrol.

+1 on the Sport Demons, grip well on my race LC:yes: and then I use them on the road LC or T20 race bike.
You could do the same with the MVX, I think thay are the same 16 front and 18 rear

If it gets your reccomendation it's good enough for me mate.
MVX has been pushed to the back burner (again!) unfortunately but once the GSX is all legal beagle I'll rip back into it.
Quite a bit of fun these old shitters eh?

Bridgestone BT45 would be the other option, I used them on the LC and only ever once provoked them into letting go and that included dealing to GS1000,GSX750 and the like in the pissing down rain at Teretonga
I haven't ever used the Sport Demon but have been told they are as good

Yep, we've used both on the 400's and they're sweet as. IMO the sport demon lasts longer...
