Hi temp engine paint?

looking to paint cylinder head, barrels and carbs in matt black, would really like crinkle finish but cannot find a product suitable (have spent quite a bit of time looking at this option)
anyone out their got some products they will either recommend or advise against it's use please?

not an option, their bake temperature would cook my carbs...

vht have wonderful high temp products, go to their web site they recommended their brand of high temp etch primer and WTF the importers don't bother importing the primer??????
how does that work????????

I've used the aerosol wrinkel finish - it can be a bit hit & miss but a brakeplate I did about 10years ago still looks reasonable. i wouldn't use it on a motor though.
I know of a guy painting carbs (overseas) who swears by caliper paint.
VHT although it has the big rep is not by any means the best around. Best I've found in HT paint and engine enamel is Duplicolour - only drawback is that Repco seem to be the agents.

There is a powder coat the guys here use on engine sidecovers on the buckets which is a wrinkle finish, I don't know if it would handle the heat from heads and barrels

Thanks for all the replies. I think the powder coating process is not suitable for the cast carbs. Not at all picking holes in anybodies comments folks just trying to glean info from other peoples experiences.

Hey Spyda, the guys at Wellington Motorcycles use a matt black, spray on crinkle finish on Harley barrels which seems quite good. I think from memory it's "Spraycoat" brand or something. Should be available from their parts department anyway.

Second that - it was a good fix up when Guzzi screwed up their wrinkle crankcase paint a few years back.... apparently its good stuff...

Repco can order in the VHT high temp etching primer. I ordered some around Xmas.

Go to the VHT site, write down the product number and get the Repco chap or chapess to order it in.

spent 30mins in repco yesterday with codes i'd gelaned off the net and their importers dont even import it, guy was helpful and went out of his way to assist also tried supercheap who do a 3m product, processes involved with this paint indicates it's not as good as others though

Second that - it was a good fix up when Guzzi screwed up their wrinkle crankcase paint a few years back.... apparently its good stuff..., been there done that product has all the right heritage but when I asked for spec sheet to ascertain correct product to clean surfaces before applying paint, despite the dealer emailing Harley suppliers, got no info.
Sprayed it on both bead blasted surfaces and ultrasonic cleaned surfaces, baked it as per instructions then peeled it off with my finger nails It certainly stuck better to bead blasted surfaces but didn't have the stick that I think is necessary

Can't help with crinkle paint,but i've used BBQ paint on a couple of engines.
Its good if ya like a matt finish.

Okay I have used the wrinkle black to paint carbs as a matter of fact I am going to paint my mikuni with the last bit this w/end a friend in the paint trade got it for me,but he informed me it was not being imported as they were not selling enough of it I will try to remember to ask him tomorrow,and I found the best results were to paint with 3 heavy coats and the bake for 15 min at 200 and believe me your missus will no you have done it as it stinks a tad lol.
