I wonder if it would be possible to make a set of leathers with LED light strips on them. Surely be high safety value and you could just hang the suit in the corner come christmas time, therefore saving money on a tree and lights.

Why you are right. In fact - I'm going to write to Stephen Joyce right this minute and suggest that bikers will never be safe until we are all forced to wear suits like this day and night, perhaps with a beacon light on top of our helmets too.
