Yamaha have the FJR 1300
Honda have the ST 1300
Kawasaki have the Concours 1400
What do Suzuki have? Have I missed something here?
The Bandit does not rate with the other three so its out of this class.

Suzuki don't have one, they have some great bases they could use, such as the Hayabusa to match the Concours, there's the GSX1400 which would go well with a fairing and luggage kit or they could use the 1250S Bandit with its electric-smooth engine and amazing torque plus it's liquid-cooled.
The V-strom is a great adventure bike but not up to matching the other's offerings in performance, it'd need too much work.
Suzuki used to have the Cavalcade, so they can do one, but it's an interesting question for sure!

Not so much engine size (cos doesn't matter right?) but straight out Tourer, Suzuki dont have one.
The GSX, while more than capable of doing all that is asked of it, is not a dedicated Tourer.
Same with the Busa and the V Strom.
That Cavalcade? was that Suzuki's answer to the Goldwing?

The closest would be the recent FA variant of the 1250 bandit, but agree it isn't a direct class compeitor

BIG FAT EDIT: wow zook is $16500 ride away and a connie 14 is $28000 ......... you could fit a lot of farkles to the zook for 10,000 and still have 1500 left for beer and pizza!
Edit 2: After a bit of googling the major diff is chain final drive on the zook and shafties for the others.

I am ever hopeful that Suzuki-san will heed my advice and make a shaft-driven variant of the Hyabusa. I am increasingly confident about this happening because he recently adopted my other suggestion about putting the GSXR-750 engine into a naked.

Simply put Mark Suzuki dont have one
When I've worn out the 14 I could be keen on the Kwaka 14 Concourse but we will have to wait and see.

I've been waiting for that for so long that I'm now a Kwaka convert (after a GSX750, RF900 and 2 Bandit's) and won't be changing until she's worn out.

Who remembers this? The 1989 GSX1100F with SPS, Suzuki Power Shield. It had a switch on the bike that electronically raised and lowered the screen. Suzuki love their acronyms apparently. SACS, SPS, TSCC, SRAD, etc.

Agree that Suzuki have the platform to do a Concours type based on the 'Busa .....I guess the economic climate's pulled the plug on the R&D for something along those lines .....even with the big corporates .
Nothing wrong with a 'Busa to wind the miles in though , I'm finishing a 2 up trip on my 'Busa tommorrow and we've done just under 2000 k's in less than a hand full of days. Been a ball .....300kms to go
My girl says her bum gets sore after about 90minutes but , that'd figure for most Bikes would'nt it ?

There was the GSX1100G which had shaft drive so depending on how far removed that engine design was from the 1250 Bandit (as far as engine cases and transmission goes) it probably wouldn't be that hard for Suzuki to do a mix'n'match from the parts bins to create a Bandit based tourer. Put a barn door fairing, a top box/pannier combo and a decent seat and they should be good to go. Thats basically what they did with the GS1100 to create the GS1100GK which was hugely successful in the US, even though it was only supposed to be a stop-gap measure while the Cavalcade was being developed.

As mentioned already.. the Bandit 1250, in its many dresses, is the Suzuki tourer. Cut price and just goes. Quiet a number of Sport Tourer shootouts give htis bike the nod over other Sport Tourers.
DL1000 & DL650 if you want something a little different, though the DL650 needs to lose weight and the DL1000 needs some horses back.

I'm gonna regret this but whats wrong with the DL1000. Ok it needs lowering a bit unless you're over 6ft, and a new seat, and the screen fiddling with, and the gearing lowered a bit, then a speedo healer.......oh dear I'm sure you can think of other problems. 'er indoors likes it and I'm quite fond of it.

Nothing really wrong with a DL1000 (get a DL650 seat for it and you sit 2 inches lower) and two-up on both the DL Suzukis are great... torquey motors and tall suspension... you will never know yer passenger is there (cozy sitting position too).
Most of the bad rep came from when it was released the old SV1000 motor was geared down and only produced 98bhp... and the bigger motor eating more gas than the 650 version (obviously).
As always, take one for a ride. I would be looking for cornering ability and brakes on the DLxxxx bikes. The DL650 steers a little wide and the brakes are not the best under load... would assume similar traits on the DL1000.
Another DL trait is the buffering of wind from the wind-shield for riders of a certain height... clip on ait deflector works there (forget name of it).
Summers is basically here.... test drive them all.

Why remember when you can live with one :innocent: comfy & supple once the suspension is sorted  will punch through 260km/h though the fuel economy is horrid above 7000rpm
Were still making them up till 96 too
There was the GSX1100G which had shaft drive.
Big tank if there ever was one, same donk as the GSX1100F but with the shaft in a tubular steel frame, heavy as hell and thurstier than a dehydrated lizard
There was a touring version with full fairing & full luggage option

there is nothing wrong with the DL but they dont hold a candle to the "proper sports tourers that they are talking about .Sure they are completely over the top but that what makes them such a relaxed ride

Maha, Im assuming ya taking Mom along too. Have had several day trips recently on back of Busa (4 - 6 hr stretches). Bike primo to pillion on, much like yr Honda but more room on the back and didnt seem to sit quite so high...I can see speedo on the back of a Honda but not a Busa ( so less chance of a belt around the ears for speeding) lol......owner of said bike loves it and rates it one of his best yet

Which is really strange, because neither machine has a speedo on the back. In both cases these are located towards the front of the machine where the rider can see them. Indeed I know of no machine that has a separate instrument panel for pillion riders.

The SVS riding position is known for aching wrists. Doesn't seem to bother me though. People who own the naked SV with a more upright riding position say its more agreeable on the wrists.

Only been on SVs and it was terrible for wrist ache... 5 mins and I was sore, also the huge difference in storage space under pillion seat compared to the TLR.
And to top it off the semi nakedness of it I actually got wet pants and I never get that on the TL, didn't feel confident on the SV I must say.

Obvious dredge but as I sold the Tiger some weeks back, my thoughts of a replacement started prior to the sale. I really rue the day I sold the CB1300 and with that in mind, it's where I want to be again. Bikes in this category can be bought for around or less than $5K. So not necessarily a CB but that style of bike will suit our needs. There are some fine examples of the big naked's around at the moment and I have a mate going to check one out for me hopefully this week..A CB1300 sold last night ($1 res) on TM for $4300.

The sv is by no means a tourer. Even a sport tourer really. If you want something with effortless riding and loads of torque then look at the c109 or the m109r. Just done 1400kms over a weekend on my m109. No stress.

I only had one ride on a CB1300 but was very impressed. I've seen reference to a new model that would fill a similar place in the range but whether Blue Wing would bring it in is another matter. On looking around now all I can see is the proposed CB1100RS which appears to be an upgraded version of the retro model.

The CB is a wonderful bike an it's no secret that it's the one bike I wished I had never got rid of. Aesthetically I like the retro look over the S Model and added a small Givi screen to the bike made the longer rides so much more comfortable. I have yet to add a screen to the GSX but it needs is for the same reason.
The reason I got rid of the GSX-FA was down to our work and no time to ride, it was a very nice bike to ride but all too easy to ride a lot quicker than what is acceptable in certain area's. :Police:

I'm really impressed with my Suzuki 1250 Bandit for touring, done a number of long trips around the North Island and did just over 4000km around the South Island in May 2017. Just love the bike, really comfortable two up with all the gear. Fitted Oxford soft panniers, a Ventura Rack and an RJAYs expandable pack on the back to carry everything for 3+ weeks including the kitchen sink. Didn't even notice the extra weight, just had to be careful parking. The seat is a bit hard and so put sheepskin covers on attached with Velcro straps around the seat so I could pull them off easily if it rained.
Took quite a bit of Gopro video to film the trip and have recently posted a few videos on Youtube. Didn't initially plan to post on Youtube so there's no commentary other than the odd comment with my partner on the back. Fantastic roads, jaw dropping scenery and awesome bike!!!
