 Nice to see it looked after then by the hoards of Motorcycle Journo's....:shit:
Cheers Oscar..:) Had a few changes since those snaps though...The sxc seat has gone as has the tank...Bugger! Would have liked them.
Now has the Enduro seat and tank....Someone knew what to do in setting up for a longer range temporarily at least.
My bigger tank shouldn't be too far away now....

Dont have to polish them, they must be made out of good stuff, they change colours depending on how hard the bikes ridden

Yeah, I think it is.
Mine's got a 17L tank on it, and apart from maybe putting some luggage racks on it, it's a great big bore adventurer.

I have an 18 litre tank coming, I have heard it can be filled up with more like 20 from empty...That's gonna hurt the arse for sure...means riding longer dammit! Nearly bought this one, it was going for a good price, now it is even better.....Trouble is, he thought it would be $100 USD to ship or thereabouts. $1300 NZD new these are ex Austria. Safari make the larger ones that only bolt onto the standard SXC seat, which I no longer have. This one is the Duke tank, fits on the bikes 1999-2006 I believe....

That would require an LC4 seat.

Which I have...LC4 Enduro tank 12 litre with comfort seat...
The 9 litre one has gone...The owner must have had it all changed by KTM, looks good...

and to think I'm not satisfied with 19L on my Supermoto. The 11L extra tank is good, but it will be replaced with something more like 20L by the end of the year

990SM has a 19L stock tank. Not nearly enough. Have an extra marine grade plastic fuel tank on the back seat, 11L. Will replace after Grand Challenge with a custom aluminum one, about 20L

What sort of range does the SM have with the 19L?

What sort of range does the SM have with the 19L?
I reckon he would get around 280Km at a push ridden in a sensible manner...
BUT, who would do that on a SM...?
So...Reckon around 260Km to reserve maybe? Let's hear it from the rider....:shit:
Gremlin
10th October 2010, 18:20
What sort of range does the SM have with the 19L?
As lame as it sounds... it depends how I ride it. 15L main, 4L reserve. From 15L I've had 140km at a trackday, or 250km ish constantly talking to my right hand.
Usually, I can expect around 200-220km.
After a lot of testing in the last few weekends, I could probably top 250 by sitting at 100-110 down highways, constant throttle etc... but no point doing that is there :weird:

I might have to make sure they all fit correctly and fit them on the bike...
Nothing serious, just chain guard, sprocket cover and a rear rack....Plus, some nice jerry cans (no pun intended) :) for oil, petrol or Bourbon and coke......:shit:

Well, thanks to KTM and especially Roger's wife for lugging it back from the USA, I am now a proud owner of a large fuel tank..:)
!8 litres it is meant to hold, but I can comfortably fit in 20 litres. This will give me a nice range anywhere, maybe even 400Km if I try hard......We will see tomorrow.
I also have fitted the Touratech bits and pieces and I am pleased with the result.
The seat took a bit of persuading as the last tank, the 12 litre one was a little different fit. I have just used the standard Twist fastening at the back, which on the normal SXC is on top of the seat, similar to the Husaberg release catch. I have mine underneath, their is another 8mm bolt which is not needed now. The seat should bend down to form nice and snugly once I get my frame on there for any length of time...
Landed into New Zealand for less than $600 including all the Hard parts bits on the bars and a few more.....Price here for the tank, over NZD $1399.....:shit: Absolutely frikkin ridiculous....

If I'd been passed by a KLR, I'd be out practicing, not sitting in front of a computer.
