I dislike the look of the new Speed Triple. I hate the headlights.

There I said it. Now I feel better.

I tend to agree,

I dont know what it is about round headlights, but its more.. BOLD and buggy i suppose, like some wide-eyed pet that will follow the masters command. THe new headlights are more streamlined and sly, cat like, a bit of an arrogant feel towards it.

Im weird i know..

New Bonneville Colours - orange and black looks good.

I liked the fact that it was ugly. Now it's like it's ugly, with slicked back greasy hair, pulled so far back, it's got the wind-tunnel look going on.

The specs sound really good for the Speed - less weight, more torque. Interesting they are balancing the weight forwards a bit more - must have been just too wheelie prone

Styling - arse end looks excellent especially that shot without the plate mount. Looks even more of a single seater now!

Headlights ........... I'd have to say the round bug eyes were getting a bit 'dated' I always presumed they would retain a pair of round ones just replace them with some of those high-tech smaller ones like on some of the BMW's. I was wrong- they went with over sized cat-eyes. Look OKish with the bug screen, but I never found the shape of the bug-screen attractive.

What's with the side bits Dave? Are they functional at all or just decorative.

So no mention of my hot-rod Bonnie Bobber then?

Anything is an improvement from those ugly, ugly, round headlights.
Looks like a nana eyeing you up all hunched over.

http://krnewsroom.blogspot.com/2010/10/2011-bonneville-colours_13.htmlEwwwwwwww, I don't like the chocolate and cream colour on the T100. The colour pattern has changed too from previous models, same as the 2009 50th anniversary special now. It's got a different seat too, it looks to be the scrambler seat.

I never did like the bug eyes on the speed triple, I always thought they looked like an afterthought - shit we forgot the lights, quick just bung these ones on. So at least the new ones look like they're supposed to be there.

Quite like the bug eyes on the new Thunderbird though, and the rest of the Thunderbird's new look.

But that's the point of a Street fighter. It's supposed to be ugly!

Now it looks like one of those slappers you see out on the town, who put their make-up on with a trowel. It probably wouldn't be that bad with nothing on at all, but by trying to conceal everything, it just looks like you've got more to hide!

Maybe it'll grow on me.

Sacrilege.

S3 to me is about what it's not. Enhanced by what you remove from it or can minimize and make lighter. Only purely functional items countenanced. 'Creature comforts' end at the seat.

(I don't know)

I can't tell whether the chocolate and cream is a recreation of an old scheme of not.

A lot of the old pics have that sepia tone anyway.

shit, they're really getting more into the 'hog' market aren't they?

I'm in 2 minds about the Sp-Triple's lights. They're kinda not classy any more. Need to see one in the flesh.

I wouldn't buy one anyway. I'd get a Striple. So pretty much my opinion isn't worth anything :)

At least they didn't put them on the new Tbird, the dual roundies look the bees knees. Always liked the agressive Rocket front end.

Nothing wrong with your opinion. I'd expect the Street to follow in style in 2012, cat-eyes and all.

Presumably Triumph did some client research with the new lights and asked a pile of street owners?

Maybe their update designer is Asian ..... (think about the 'eyes').

The new ones remind me of T3 - old school round eyes and new model cat-eyes.

The Speed Triple is so....yummmm:yes:

Think I'll add one to the fleet next year. Got to buy a bike to cart the missus round on.
Regret selling my Speedy a while back.

You need to buy one so your missus can look good on it in that trumpy jacket I sold you. I also regret selling the speedy - but this one will be an improvement.

If only they would put a decent seat on it standard - why is a gel seat an accessory

I like the new speed triple, but dunno if the general public will. Basically new headlights are very TnTish......and that bike had poor sales.

Mabey they should have optional tick box where you can get new or old bug eyes?

Note that when mini did this (aka custom your own mini mirrors) - their sales shotup.

I'm hoping for a flood of cheap Street Triple R's on the market (pref with gel seats, Arrow low pipes, good tyres and babied, white or black or orange) when the new Speed T comes out. Then I could have TWO bikes (well three technically).

I get to register my car today: bargain, only $340 or something for a year.

In the second shot of that Speed Triple set, there are a bunch of Triumph goody bags: what was in them?

enquiring minds.... jealous of all the free stuff. mmmm free stuff.

Here ya go - these are the type of lights I expected to see on a update.

I still think Triumph should employ me on a suitably fat salary to design limited edition factory specials.

It's good to have goals in life.

Everyone who has one probably doesn't like the new design. Those who would never buy the existing "dated" design now have a japanese looking british bike they would like to buy.

Sorry - but looks too Gladius to me with the tank and headlights. I second the smaller round high intensity headlights as a better option.

The TNT was a nice looker. I think the poor sales were due to the fact a journo said that if it started in the morning it was cause for celebration. :)

Hmmmm same here.... again the headlights look like an after thought and unfinished idea.... make them more compact like a Buell twin setup or go single like the Ducati monster or streetfighter lights.
And those indicators, move them up on to the front forks etc... is this a trailer needing maker lights, the new streamlined speedtriple?? they have just added width!

Sort the headlight and move the indicators.... now we are talking about a sleek machine, yes a nice bike to personalize and make one of a kind.

I sat on a mate's Triumph America . always had old Triumphs and liked the look of them .. I hated this one .. feet forward and higher bars .. really uncomfortable feeling and I'd hate to take it on the road .. A Thruxton is on my wish list for the Lotto win .. but I couldn't imagine any of the feet forward models ..
