Went to Metallica last night. Don't know Auckland. Was going to park in a park right building but navigation failure meant we parked in a Wilson building on the same road.

As we left the concert and went to pay for our ticket the machine broke and swallowed it. Only option was to pay $50 for a 'lost ticket'. Person on the phone said keep a receipt and you will be refunded.

Have seen Wilson on fair go a few times. Have i just lost $50? Have sent them an email. They don't seem to have an 0800 number and im not wasting any more money calling Auckland.

Down here the car parks I've been to state that if the machine is not working you can not use the park. However, as the machine was working when you parked then failed as you went to pay then you should be due a refund.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. Give Wilson a chance to do the right thing.

2nded, give them a chance.... Although the cynic in me says they'll be true to historical form and try to worm out of it.

Then e-mail Fair Go when they ignore you. After all they're to busy counting money to bother with such inconveniences as customer complaints.

Wilson Parking give a refund? I think that's a Tui billboard waiting to happen.

Give it a bash, I suppose. They will, of course, deny that the person on the phone said anything even approaching the dreaded "refund" word.

How far you go depends on whether you can be bothered fighting for $50 on a principle.

Just pay the $50, it is probably cheaper than paying for parking in Auckland.

They did email me back yesterday saying they will refund with bank statement showing the money went out or the receipt. They emailed me at the end of the day though so will have to wait until next week. They did ask what time i entered the carpark so they obviously want their money for the time i parked!

I think it's fair enough them wanting you to pay for the time you parked, although they should give you some sort of discount for the time and effort you've had to go to to get your $50 back. They may just be wanting to know the time you parked so they can determine whether the machine actually was working when you parked.

Update.

Managed to get the receipt scanned. Got a refund of $43.00. Yet it cost me $50.50 to get out.

The parking cost $7 so wheres my other 50 cents...

I bet they make millions by keeping a few cents here and there :shifty:

Wankers.
