Well seeing as it's a Yamashit, I'd say it's definitely not worth the effort.

Looks to me like a show bike that gets transported from show to display stand to garage on the back of a truck, doubt it's ever ridden....... or meant to be.

Yeah - even I wouldn't want to do that much polishing (and that is something I secretely enjoy).
The reflection from the tank on a sunny day would make it a bugger to ride wouldn't it?

Bloody good point! Imagine it, sun's up - you go blind - so you only ride at night... till some prat puts his headlights on you (aarrrhggghhhh!!!!!)
still - it'd be ok in wellywood

Can you imagine the bloody fingerprints from all those snotty nosed little kids who love to touch bikes? I think the novelty would soon wear off, that's for sure.

I think it looks really nice... but yeah, way too much damn effort in keeping it clean and the sun would be an issue... certainly a head turner though...

You forget that overseas and especially in the US, there's a whole different biker subculture that we don't seem to have here, where bling is king, and everything else is secondary. They even have their own biker week, totally separate to the Daytona one, and based around stunting and cruising to show off your wheels.

The whole bike could pass for a mirror but it wouldn't pass a WOF because of no mirrors.

Why the hell would you do that to a sports bike? Chrome on bikes looks pretty naff (unless it's your forks of course), and that's just awful.
Might work in Jaffaland though. No probably not, only in the US of A.

i love that chrome. it's beautiful because it's ALL ONE COLOUR. every colour...ohh soo cool...come on people where's your imagination? it would be like riding that chrome blobb thing that the terminater came from. as for reflection- sunnies. that bike is more an excercise in aesthetics than performance- pity we can't chrome plate the rider.

Yes it's shiny but someone's just chromed an R1, which is reasonably aesthetic on it's own right. Oh and reasonably performance orientated as well. Besides you'd need to keep it in a hermatically sealed, temperature controlled, dustfree room. Or get very handy with the polishing rag.

So long as it has an engine, two wheels, steering and brakes what else matters ? :ride:
All it really needs is a couple of dead bugs to give that used look.

Forgive my ignorance but would they have chromed the plastic parts or re-fabricated them in a metal?

Normally I'm not into that kind of look, but my first thoughts were "that's fucking cool."
Or maybe its just the beer talking  . Once I get home from work I'll check it again.

A little bit of the shiney stuff goes a long way... but this much??? Who said the other day about "a little carbon fibre is good, but too much and you lose the whole effect" ?
It's kind of like using a highlighter - highlight everything and suddenly nothing's 'highlighted'.

My nephew is one of them kids,or was.
Told the little shit not to touch the bike,so he looks straight at me an puts his hand on the header.:crybaby:
Had to wipe his finger prints off my nice chrome pipe:laugh:
Love chrome, alloy, other shiny stuff, but that bikes a little over the top even for me.

OK, I know its not everyones cuppa tea, but the work that has gone into it... not that you could do a runner on it either - how many could look like it.
Beautiful, but not practical. But all that work, and he takes piccies in that crappy resolution, not even fit for a wallpaper?? :weird:

seein as no-one helped you out....my favourite product is called "shine-brite" or similar...sold in a fluro yellow tin at super cheap...bout $10 a tin, last years. its a wadding material, like cotton wool but thicker. works on everything cept paint.
not sure if itd be any good for what you want it for, but maybe worth a look?
EDIT: i actually like the bike...all shiny and pretty....id love it. love polishing scuff..even to the point of getting underneath and cleaning all the road grime off, so this one would be a dream come true. and yes, i would ride it, just not at sunrise/set! LOL. and likely with sunnies and tinted visor.
imagine getting hit while riding that "i didnt see you cos the sun glittering off it blinded me!"

What is with some people's obsession with chrome? No thanks. Give me a decent professional paint job over it any time. Chrome bits have their place... Just not on my machinery. I much prefer polished alloy. I can appreciate that it's had a heck of a lot of work put into it, and it sure is something to look at, but as far as I'm concerned - no thankyou. A good professional paintjob would look much better to me, and it'd be less likely to be flogged or vandalised by some unimaginative git. :weird:
