To the dumb bastard riding a cruiser up Valley Road at 4.45pm in Browns Bay today: Your actions could have quite easily cost your own life, the life of the pedestrian on the footpath, or my own as the guy in the cage coming the other way. I don't care how slow that truck was going, you don't overtake in such a stupid place with oncoming traffic. I had to slow down considerably to give you enough space to finish your poorly executed overtake, had you been any slower or later I was looking at hitting either you, or the guy on the footpath if I tried to get out of your way.

Do you think that a high-vis vest or an L plate was going to save your life? Lean some bloody patience and manners before you get yourself or somebody else killed. I would highly recommend you come along to NASS one night, you clearly have a lot to learn.

Not to mention the oldies at the Retirement Village at the bottom of Valley Rd
If it was one of them that was the pedestrian on the footpath, they were in no position to run to get put of the way. Anyway a 250 cruiser would be pushing it to overtake a pushbike going up Valley Rd.

I passed a guy on a moroon coloured Hyosung gv 250 cruiser wearing a bright green High Vis vest on Wairau road today..... heading up towards that way. I wonder if it was the same dude. This guy was behaving though. Although, I did notice his vest was unfastened and flapping behind him in the wind like a cape ! I shudder to think about what might happen if it got snagged on a truck going the other way.

If you see another rider riding in such a manner that he may kill himself or someone else then, I reckon its fair enough to try to point it out to them. He may not have any idea about how his actions have concerned other road users. If he reads this, it may well be the wake up call that saves his life.

Yea I know I was just being a dick like 90% of the people here.

Every time someone posts a thread like this a response like mine is always put up.

People just have to accept that learner riders do ride like dicks sometimes and then they shit bricks and get pulled into line. Simple as that sometimes

No, I'm sure I'm not completely innocent when it comes to riding badly on occasions, however I do try and draw the line at endangering lives to cut 10 seconds off a journey.

...and as much as I am Little Miss Responsble I've done a couple of stupid things out there as well, we are all human and we do all stuff up.
I think it's brilliant to be able to be informed when one's a cock, to except the criticism and learn.

I just hope the rider in question realised his error and has learnt from it - it doesn't sound like the kind of mistake someone can keep making without failing to get away with it sooner rather than later. Everyone makes mistakes, but those that don't
realise it are the ones that end up fucking up once too often and we hear about it on the news.

When I do something rather dumb I usually realise it and think "shit, that was stupid - I better avoid screwing up like that again because I might not survive the fuck up next time". You don't really want to ride your luck until it runs out.

The thing about the high moral ground is the great view, on a clear day you can see right up your own arse.

....you have to have a base line to gauge your improvement....ineptitude is generally where we start...after close on 40 years of trying to be as 'ept' as possible, i still sometimes find myself in posiions of ineptness , usually involving swearing and cursing and digital gesticulations, from the party that feels 'inepted' upon...can only from that moment promise myself that i will not be inept again ..'til next time....it's even worse when your wife is breathing into your vent as you are being inept....more promises...

Sorry - I was in a rush. I won't do it again. Actually, I probably will. Oh well, my bad.

Impossible. I'd suffer retinal damage.

He'll probably start a thread tomorrow going on about how he was riding along, minding his own buisness when a cop pulled him over for nothing and gave him a ticket for an unsafe pass :innocent:
