Thinking about trade in my little Gn125 for a Ninja 250R.
Which year's model should I get? All the three models look like the same to me but prices are differernt? I want the latest one but does it worth the $700 or $800 more? Since I can't tell the difference at all? Anybody knows more about the Ninjas? Cheers:scooter:

All exactly the same except the 2010 has a black stock pipe.
Obviously they have different prices as some are newer than others

I believe the 2010 is still carburettor based. The extra $700 might be worth it for peace of mind on a 2010 bike to get the warranty.

They seem to be robust machines. I don't know of any quality issues between any of the years you mention. The best 250 out there at the moment.

I think the Ninja 250 in Europe is fuel injected, but don't know whether the ones in NZ are or not, best to ask a dealer about that?

Otherwise, pretty sure the specs is the same.

When the bike first came out in 2008 it was sold for $6995 brand new when we had good currency exchange rate, I see on their website the 2010 is now being sold for $8695.

If you're ok without a factory warrenty and want to save some money, then maybe get a 2nd hand bike with <5,000km from someone who bought it new to get their licence.

i wouldn't buy brand new. buy a 2nd hand one, get it serviced for peace of mind if you like (get a mechanic to check over it before purchasing if you like, not a AA check, but a bike mechanic).

save the money you were prepared to pay on a new ninja, for a bigger bike 1 day.

if you buy brand new, you are guaranteeing yourself instant loss of money.

my 2 cents anyway.

They are all the same, carbd etc. 2010 had a few cosmetic adjustments, can colour, tail colour (some colours) and a special edition version (kawasaki stickers)

engine is essentially the same as it has always been for the last 20 or so years, with tuning adjustments and a shorter stroke and higher compression.

Get a second hand one, these are bullet proof, but look for one that has been re-jetted as the factory fueling on the 3rd gen ninja 250 is so lean that it is not user friendly, jetting smooths out the throttle response and power delivery.

we've had two of them, and I've worked in a kawasaki agent for a bit, not saying I know it all (I deff don't) but I know a bit about these

Hope it helps
