I am in Auckland and have a Honda VT750C and I want to either replace my seat with something more comfortable to re-upholster it.
Does anyone know of someone to re-upholster a seat?
I have had rough estimates of around $500 to buy a new seat, but I am thinking it may be less to get the seat I have made more comfortable.
After an hour or two my ass is really sore.......

I found these on another web forum, have done the mod myself and didn't find to many issues, especially if you make careful note of how the seat comes apart and make sure you re-staple the cover basically in the same space.

Thanks! Though I think I may be a little too nervous to do it myself

We get around 3-4 seats re-covered every week. Costs approx $100 depending on the seat. More if it needs new foam as well as cover.

The seat is in very good condition is just needs more foam in it or something to stop my bum from hurting.

If that's from Tauranga, I bought one of theirs. They do know what they're doing, and they do lots.

It may seem expensive but after you've looked at importing a Corbin or Sarjent (sp?) it doesn't seem quite so bad.

Have you looked at one of those inflatable pads Airhawk or similar?

Yes it was from Tauranga and I have been told that they are very good and very experienced with this model in particular. I made an error in the price - it is actually $550 plus gst. I just don't have the money.

Any idea where you can get that inflateable seat pad from? I wonder if you would slip around on it or if it is sticky. One of the sidecar boys at speedway has a gel seat that he sticks to so he doesn't come off the bike as he is a paraplegic - maybe it has an underneath like that.

No, I remember seeing ads in magazines, but not which mags.

Sometimes when wanting to know more about products I've paid these guys a visit:

Interesting comment about the air filled pads...

It seems this product has a local agent:

What they cost God knows, but they have optional tassles

I will have to ring around, the butt buffer has to be worth a try - every set of lights I came to today, I had to stand up and shake my ass around - people look at you funny!

Holy crap! prices for a butt buffer to fit my seat is $309. Damn! probably better to suck it up and pay for my entire seat to be redone in Tauranga!

You could try Sargent to see if they make a seat for your bike. If they do, search online as sometimes you can find them on sale for well under US retail. That's how I found mine (Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse) and total cost to my door was NZ$503.

Sargent will not sell directly to you, as they have an Australasian agent. If memory serves me correctly, I was quoted AU$750+NZgst.
