Hi,

I am interested in a 250 2 stroke put in storage for a good ten years, only information i got was that the barrels had been oiled.

What should i look out for? My first thought was the fuel system, fuel tank corrosion. Then all seals, that might have dried out or perished. And then of course, the battery.

Any info on the procedures that should have been taken and/or what damage to look for would be greatly appreciated. cheers

Sounds like you have a good handle on what to look for. Battery will be stuffed as will be tyres. Crank case seals possibly will have dried out and need replacement? Water or air cooled. 10 years is a long time for water to sit in an aluminium cooling system and not corrode it, even if it has glycol in there.

Water cooled parallel twin.

Is that the TZR250? If so, I think it is the reverse cylinder model. Opinions vary on them, ranging from "good" to "crap compared to the previous model"

SVBoy has covered the main points to look for, so give it a very careful look over and bargain down the price for every suspect thing.

I imagine replacing the crank seals will not be cheap.
