We decided earlier in the year it might be a good idea to make available some Prolite 250 and Streetstock 150 machines for riders interested at having a go at roadracing.
Our first outing was AMCC RD1 at HD.We had 2 bikes leased for this round,1 to Simon Vollmer and the other to Tim Porter,After a last minute hiccup at around 1am Sunday morning (Wrong chain supplied) I dragged out the faithful ex Woodyracer KR150rr and began raceprepping it too replace the chainless Hyosung,Finished around 3,15am had a shower and loaded the van,Quick coffee and then realised it was 5am and time to go (plenty of time for sleep when your dead eh!),
Got to the track around 7.15 am and it suddenly dawned on me,I had never met either Simon or Tim and we hadnt arranged too meet anywhere in particular DOH!!,After wandering around for half an hour aimlessly,Decided to go have chat with Ken from Hyosung NZ,While there Simon wandered up and introduced himself,Eventually Tim turned up and it was game on,Unloaded the van and off they went to scrutineering,,Bikes come back all stickered up and good to go,At this point I notice these guys are not fazed 1 bit,New track,New bike and dodgy weather and theyre still fizzing, WTF???

Having never ridden a 2 stroke before I had some reservations,But he was up for it,
Qualifying:Went really well for Simon on a wet track and a completely new bike he managed to qualify 5th overall and looked good doing it,Came back with a grin like a cheshire cat and loving it.
Race one:Last minute question from Simon,How do I get this thing off the line?I gave him a rundown and as he rode off I thought good luck with that!!Bugger me if didnt nail it straight away (BASTARD it took me ages to learn to do that)and was running around in 4th place till about lap 4 when he lost the front at Shirriffs corner,Oops I mean turn 1.Came back to the pit area with a mildly broken KR but grinning like he won his first Moto GP,Quick rush around and we got the bike all cleaned up and good to go again(thanks to Woodyracer and Ken from Hyosung NZ).
Race 2,Borrowed a helmet as he had wrecked his in race 1,Good start again and a good solid ride saw him finish in the top half of the feild,Well done for his first ever roadrace meeting.
Tim Porter Hyosung GT250R,
Qualifying:Tim went well right off the bat,Looked smooth and controlled in the trying conditions and qualified 6th on the grid,Again well done,
Race 1,Good start and a smooth controlled race for Tim saw him finish in the top half of the feild and he was loving it,
Race 2
More of the same as race one although he was a little more agressive this time around as he had Simon in his sights and was pushing a little harder,Finished a couple of seconds back but seemed to really enjoy it,AWESOME!!
Awesome day for everyone involved and hope too see them both back.
