A bit hard to justify in these hard times - but it's pretty flash for an old Ford Escort!

$40k and then you'd have to swap the wheels for some minilites and re-spray it orange and black "Mexico" styles.

Bang some old crossplys on it. Now that would be fun.

That's a lot of money for something with too many wheeels ..

That is seriously cool car - from a distance externally would give Marc Willers' Nizola a run, but the interior in the escort is pretty average - this is how an old school performance ride should look >> http://www.performancecar.co.nz/tag/marc-willers

:woohoo:Love it,not to fussed on all the "show" stuff but other than that:woohoo:Anyone remember the Escort with the P76 motor in it that raced with much success way back.

Or even the P76 dropped into that vauxhall chevette as a rally/hillclimb car? What was the name of that hill climb that went up a hill to a hairpin then back down? I think it was somewhere down south.. Chch?

Ashley forest, don't remember a P76 one but there was a 308/powerglide Chevette there

My welding Boss had the only genuine MK1 BDA 1600 in the Southern Hemisphere which he sold not so long ago for I believe over 80-90K , he said he drives it more now for the new owner than he did while owning it , He has now just brought a new 80k Ford Focus RS MountTune with 350HP one of only 100 made , mate has driven it & says it is out of this world & would just wipe a FPV Ford or HSV Commodore off the Planet . It is quicker than an 2010 Subaru & is as quick as an 2010 Evo round a track ! not bad for a front wheel drive . My drive is this weekend so I will take it to my test road & have being told to drive it like I stole it !!!

Remember reading an article re a Focus and a GT40 being driven over some insane road in Europe with the Focus all over the 40 like a rash,no surprise really but hey give me a dinosaur anyday.

Yes, Ashley Forrest, think you're right. The P76 may have been in a Starlet?? can't remember...

You're thinking of the Oldsmobile/Starlet built by Trevor Crowe

Thats him!
Kim was a hauraki Plains dairry farmer- he died in a Robinson R22 crash- He took me in that Chevette for two runs in the Ashley forest sprint -demented!- and then his wife on the third run ...and flipped it right in front of me on the downhill!

That would have been Mad- Max Irwin from waiuku! he would vertually destroy it each time he drove it!- I have insane photos of him on two wheels on gravel and drifting on Wrights road hillclimb with smoke pouring off the rear tyres - back in the early 80s
I owned an Escort Twin Cam back then with a Brian Hart 170hp big valve motor in it and a Rocket Close Ratio Box. Group 4 Bilstiens and an atlas LSD- it was the shizzle!

I dream of RS200's.

If someone says I meant to say "2000" I will rip out your throat. The RS200 was the best ford rally car.

The guys at Hoffman Ford in Pahiatiua (of all places!) had one on display for a while. Pretty cool fella's, I stopped on my way back from Manfeild after a test day, they were just closing up but completely understood me wanting to check the thing out. Awesome wee thing, got a real hand built quality to it, kinda like a very nice kit car, which I guess it is. It certainly didn't have the robotic "perfection" of your average car, but it's a long way from average so that's alright by me..

I won't mention the Group A RS500 race car they also had on display....

The only ford that gets my happy goo goo going in the most sensual and soothing way, is this one..

I'd take either of these 2 actually.
I had an RS2000 way back when. An amazing little car. Also had a John Goss Special 1981 Falcon. 351ci toploader box and LSD 9" diff all factory.
That one was my favourite.:niceone:

Grew up in Dunedin and there were street drags (proper ones) on the waterfront, t'was a couple of 2nd hand car dealers (Bird brothers I think) that showed up in flash muscle car V8's that weren't muffled and the noise was fantastic. My 302 XR8 at full noise is a sweet sound too but not like those big blocks!

Heh, I grew up watching The Professionals and dreamt of RS2000's...back when Dad was getting Cortina Mk4's as company cars (tan vinyl roof FTW...not).

I also grew up watching the Rallycross on Grandstand and was kind of disappointed when Martin Schanche went from his x-trac Escort to an RS200...

I dream of RS200's.

Quite a cool car but I'd rather have a MG Metro 6R4

A few years back they showed UK Rallycross on sky which had quite a few of these types of vehicle competing
