Anyone know what's Dons plans are in the near future?. Does he intend to reopen his shop in a new location or in the existing shop should the powers of be allow him to open in the existing store.
I will need tyres fitted on some of my bikes in the near future so anyone recommend anyone that specializes in motorcycle tyres. I heard budget tyres are to be steered clear off.

.....Dons phone number is up at the front of his shop...was when I spoke to him there recently anyway....phone him....I know he is as frustrated as all hell....he has his hands tied by the owners of the corner building who seem to be in no hurry to sort THEIR building...it is a real pain with Don being out of operation....just shows how much he does for the Chch racing riders...a whole lot of us are in the same boat as you...

I cant say what Don is up to, rumour is just that until it happens. Hope he is all going soon though for a lot of folks.
As to Budget, do you mean budget motorcycle spares or budget tyres? If the latter as their bread and butter is car tyres then it might be an idea to avoid them in respect to motorcycle tyres, how ever the former seems to be as good a place as any to get tyres from and fitted, they have a wide range and seem to have reasonable pricing.
Keep in mind a couple of points when someone says runs down any retailer, a Pirelli (or insert you brand here) tyre is exactly that, the difference lays in the mark up the retailer puts on the pricing, the price they charge to fit the tyre, and maybe their relationship with the wholesaler which can affect the price you pay. If someone's got a bee in their bonnet about something and is slagging of any retailer ask them why they hold that opinion, if it comes down to a mate of a mate said that a mate of his got bad service or did not get a free blowjob or what ever then ignore it, if your mate directly got bad service and you know he can be a bit of a wanker at times ignore it, if a genuine person got bad service or goods then its time to think hmm but ask one more question did they go back and try to get the problem fixed, if no then again ignore it.
Personally I have not purchased tyres from Budget motorcycles but I have bought a power of other stuff and never had an issue with them, they have good stocks and know the products they sell.

Yeah I meant budget motorcycles. I have never used them but if Don isn't open in time then I will get a quote and take my bikes down and get my regular tyres fitted and make sure they align the wheels and tighten things correctly. If Street and Sport are open I will probably get them to do the tyres if compatible with budget motorcycles prices.

Apparently it is on the historical building register or whatever it is which makes it even more difficult for the building owner to get a decision on it's fate

Street and Sport share the same building as Don so are in the same boat, they are operating out of the Sportzone Suzuki building at present

I had some new tyres fitted recently by Bill and the team at Budget , price was right and they do know their stuff . Bill even gave me some poignant tips on tyre pressures etc...I thought I knew it all but....of course , I don't .
And it was Don that recommended I go to Budget after I told him about the Metzelers I was after ...all good. I have heard that Don had some form of Insurance that covers him for earhquakes etc, correct me if I'm wrong

Yeah, with Pitlane out of action I got my recent puncture fixed at Budget M/C Spares. Reasonable price and no issues.

I've only bought a couple of things off Budget over the years but found them to be fine. I've heard a number of people bitch about them but they gave a reason for it, so based on my own experience I'd happily go back there.
The only wrong with them is I can't walk there in my lunchbreak :innocent: whereas I regularly wander along to the Manchester St shops for look around.

For what it's worth, Budget Motorcycles have always been friendly and helpful towards me. (even though I'm often in there wishing I could spend some moolah when I can't.
That wee dog that runs around there keeps things pretty entertaining too.

I bought a tyre and had it fitted by Street and Sport last week. We went over the road, got the tyre out of their rack, and their mechanics are working out of Sportzone's workshop.
It was entirely as hassle free as dealing with Don.
And they could use the business. Just saying.
Oh, and Glenn and Phil are at least as pissed off as Don is, I bet.
Though the Sportzone showroom is really cool these days: full of Suzukis, Triumphs, and Guzzis and Aprilias.....

Budget are fine to deal with as well, in my experience. Not that I have bought a lot of stuff there: i either buy online, or from one of the Manchester St crowds when I am doing the walk and drool.

I feel for them: I doubt it will be the owner dragging the chain: but dealing with the fucking council, (one arm of which will want you to do one thing, immediately, another will want you to do something else entirely, also immediately), but the insurers, the loss adjusters, the brokers, the tenants, etc etc. The one I felt sorriest for is that guy who owns manchester courts. Some fucktard trying to get an injunction to save the builiding: which he doesnt own, nor have any interest in. As Richard Peebles said "Why doesnt he buy it off me then he can do what he wants?" Interfering busybodies!!!!

it'll be those same fuckwits that protest just about everything else in NZ. I doubt they have jobs so they probably don't contribute anything to society. They just seem to exist solely to burden the tax payer with their selfish self satisfying beliefs. Yeah they piss me off too.
I've heard it's heritage stuff holding up the Manchester St bike shops, so let's hope some common sense prevails & they get there arse into gear so some people can get back to making a living.
All Ch-Ch-ians get down & support biketoberfest this weekend.
