Does anyone know what the first 3 characters are for in the Yamaha catalog or what it refers to? ie: 5TA-16321-00
Cheers.

The first 3 characters is the bike model number, as in my XJ600 was a 51J, a 5TA appears to be a 2003 YZF450
The following number is the actual part number, and I think the last 2 digits are the version number for that part.
If you go to the Yamaha motor website you can look at the parts catalogs online.

The 1st 3 numbers are for the model and year the middle part is the part number the last 2 normally 00 on most web sites being US sites means it an USA part so if ordering something in NZ leave the 00 off at the end. Also you will find most parts that have a different model number but same part number will interchange.
