I have purchased a Transponder off a guy who bought one then bearly used it. Problem is you can't change the Name that is registered to the transponder on Mylaps.com (yes one helpful site that is!)

Question is when i use my newly purchased transponder at a race event, such as a nationals round, will my results all be recorded as 'Jeff White' or does mr gibbs input the registered riders name onto his advanced system so i actually attribute points?

Surely this has been incountered before with ours who have borrowed transponders etc?

cheers

Yeah they put in whatever name you tell them. You can pay mylaps $50 or something like that and they will reset the transponder details for you. I wouldn't worry though. Once you have one that is the main thing. Save you heaps of money.

Someone will correct me soon... if not I'll ask him next time I'm talking to him.

Yea I bought Tony OK's one and he said pretty much the same thing as Kirk has above. I havent bothered to change it although a couple of times the timing guys have cocked up with the name not appearing on mylaps - instead the transponder # has come up. Pretty sure thats their failure to enter data correctly... Well I hope it is anyway.

As my little blog kinda implies i bought it second hand ( which is why the name is wrong ) I got mine pretty much new for $700 - rechargeable with 2 mounts. good deal i think - to get one over from Au aint less than 800 new, plus mounting brackets.

I tried Ebay Uk - and they were about the same 300 quid ish.

yes both hard wired and recharge avaliable - though my little beast needs to keep all the power it can find!

Makes the one I got for $300 look like a pretty good bargain!

Hmm--now I wonder about the transponder being mounted on a big ol coiled spring behind the race number. smash the switch as ya getting really close to the line in a photo finish race

Easiest way to change on mylaps is to ask previous owner for their login details and then change the name etc in there.

Otherwise

BTW....MNZ office in Huntley bulk ordered some a couple of years back and they were waaay cheaper than $800.
