One of the treasures in my vinyl collection is a Scott Joplin LP - I used to play it at kids parties, nothing lights up kids smiles like ragtime.

My wife was not happy with the discords in the first video - she grew up with her uncle playing that stuff.

I bought an old 78 wind up gramophone years ago. Came with a collection of old disks, including the Black and White rag (pot black theme) played by Winifred Atwell.

The player , a small portable, is basically a spring drive turntable and a needle touching a diaphragm, then a folded horn shape inside the case - despite its apparent simplicity it plays bloody loud. Volume control is a sock stuffed down the horn.

Have you seen the movie "The Legend of 1900"?

No, but "The Sting" is an all time favourite...
