Last time there was one of these locally the cops at least had a guess at the make and colour of the bike so we could all speculate who it was. And no it wasn't me.

Actually the "populated community" comment isn't too bad. Out here in the rural rump some of the communities have been pretty much depopulated.

For the benefit of non-locals, judging from the news item the location was the 'Normanby Straight" which has numerous side roads and driveways, and includes entrances to the Hawera Racecourse and Hawera Aerodrome. Not a wise place to give a vehicle a quick blast such as this at 2.00pm. Had to be brave, and at least slightly crazy.

As someone not from the area, I'm taking what the locals have said to be correct.
If so, what sort of Boofhead exceeds the speed limit by that much,at that time on a road where any number of vehicles could simply pull out in front of him and be cut in half.
I hope you fools in this thread have had enough fun, time to count the cost.
What if he'd hit the school bus with your kids in it?
Yesterday wasn't enough for you guys aye, a guy dies on a Race Track , the safest place he could be to exceed the normal road speed limit and today your'/e all congratulating an unknown FOOL on a bike who could have killed many others.
Not Impressed and not for a moment going to say anything nice about an IDIOT who thinks this is fun.

Also there is time and place for speed ... and its race track (and quiet back road perhaps).

Going that fast on a public road...suicide or murder?

Glad neither was the case but hell, if the rider keeps up with that behaviour it won't be long. Carnage and a few thousand dollars for hospital fees (if rider survives).

The rider has something missing!

Go back and read your post. "Bikers hate cops and cops hate bikers." Rubbish! And your sweeping generalisation that cops will target bikers and pick on them relentlessly for "every tiny thing" is also rubbish!

You personally, and maybe a couple of others on here may, hate cops and break the law every time you ride as a one-fingered salute to authority, and heap vitriol on any copper who dares to pull you over for any offense, but you are being a idiot and doing yourself no favours with your ranting.

Why don't you cool off, turn your brain on and go on patrol with the cops or engage in discussions with those who make the laws. You came across, rightly or wrongly, as a selfish, arrogant anarchist with no respect for authority.

Of course they aren't angels, who is? Most are simply people like you and me, but doing a job most of us wouldn't want to do, dealing with the dregs of society and having to be nice to people like you who may treat them with disrespect and also come to your aid if you crash whether you were obeying the law or not.

I started driving illegally on the road in 1970, legally from 1973 and have been ever since. I've asked the question before, why have I got through 40 years and have no issues, no angst and never had a problem with any cop I've encountered? It's maybe as much about your attitude as about the integrity of the Police. Maybe you bring undue attention to yourself?

Maybe it's the fact you're in NZ, where i come from (the UK) they're not so magnanimous. The last time I had a crash the first thing they did was breathalyze me, didn't even ask if I was ok, once satisfied I wasn't a pisshead they buggered off...lol

In my experience, which is also lengthy :girlfight:, being nice to them really doesn't make much of a difference if you've broken the law, tried both approaches and achieved the same response.....mild patronization with a smattering of high and mighty and a side of officious ponce syndrome.

I tend not to break the law in stupid places (outside schools, in shopping centres, outside copshops) however the attitude of many officers I've encountered even on the most minor offences.....62 kph in a 50 for example in a car that can stop on a 20 cent piece......is frankly unnecessary. You will never change the way some people feel towards the fuzz no matter how much you glorify them as our saviors because unfortunately as they are 'just like us' that also works against them, they also let their feelings effect their judgement.

They may not 'hate bikers' as someone mentioned but there are a truckload of them that really don't like us very much......that also applies to anyone in a car with a big bore exhaust/spoilers etc. I've been pulled over for the heinous offence of driving my car in a straight line late at night obeying the speed limit.....there was another group of uniform wearing enforcers hanging around Europe a few years back with a similar attitude :p

To address the point underlined. You break the law you take the consequences, it's very simple. If they lecture you, take it, it's their job.

On recent case, a woman stepped in front of a car and was killed. The driver admitted to doing 59km/h. He was not going fast enough to get a ticket and wasn't charged with speeding despite being 9km/h over the limit. However, the SCU did investigate whether his speed was a factor in being unable to stop in time. Had it been, he would have been charged, so it was to his relief that they found he couldn't have avoided her even if he had been at the legal limit.

It's something to think about. Even if you are within any tolerance the cops allow, if you crash, your speed will always be considered. Mine was, even though I was doing about 45km/h when I spun out on oil.

If you are driving a modified vehicle you must expect to be stopped at some point for a vehicle check. You don't say why you were pulled over and what the cop wanted. I assume it was simply to check your modifications.

Sorry but I have zero sympathy for stupid pedestrians :violin:. It's bad enough having to deal with useless drivers let alone numbnuts who step out into the road without looking.

As far as I know 'a lecture' is not part of the procedure. If I were to give a lecture everytime somebody did something stupid or wrong with a computer I'd be a very unpopular IT person.....and funnily enough the ones that do ARE. It's very simple........give the ticket and let the offender be on their way, no patronising and no attitude.....but unfortunately put a human being into a position of power and they invariably become a fuckwit....just look and the government

At no point in the roadcode or the civil rights bill in this country does it say that if you drive a modified vehicle that you should expect to be stopped....it's called harassment. I have MANY friends and colleagues who've suffered interrogations for no apparent reason. The funny thing was when I wound down my window, the officers face was a picture, he was expecting some cap on sideways little prick rather than a bespectacled middle age pommy bastard. I asked why I'd been stopped......routine check......that old chestnut.

Speeding is a sore point in any country, however my opinion, for what its worth, is that speed isn't the major issue....the biggest issue is poor driving skill and the real killer..... lack of awareness. One day it would be nice if all parties involved in accidents we forced to attend and pass advanced driver training at their own cost before being allowed back on the road.....now THAT would get rid of some numpties.

You came across, rightly or wrongly, as a selfish, arrogant anarchist with no respect for authority.

a) cops target bikes...always did and always will be, not sure if its due to bad experience or just small dick syndrome but that doesnt change the fact

b) i dont break law as often as you think, but iam yet to find a decent cop...well that is a lie, i've met about two decent cops in my time and i've admited this before...its the ratio of dickheads vs. good cops that annoys me (about 20:1 at best)

c) iam not angry at all..but discussion with cops never leads anywhere because unless you are one of them they will always see you just as a "customer"

But you are quite right, not sure if iam selfish or arrogant but i do hate authority that i cannot respect...

Maybe I'm just plain unlucky. I've been riding bikes for 40 years and never been targetted. I admit to regularly riding at speeds in excess of 160km/h over the years and generally cruising 20 - 30km/h over the limit when I was a bit younger. I've never been stopped while riding, oh, hang on I was stopped at a Reg/Wof checkpoint a couple of years ago but he waved me on without checking mine... I've never had a ticket for anything on my bike.

I have never been patronised, or treated unfairly in any interaction with the Police. I treat the Police with the same respect I treat everyone, maybe that's why I don't seem to have confrontations with anyone...

The answer seems simple, really. Don't break the law, or if you do, accept the consequences. If you don't agree with the law, remove yourself from society or lobby the lawmaker's for change. We have to live in a society and cannot afford anarchy which naturally means we must sacrifice some of our preferences for the general good.

The only way you can rebel without consequence is to live on your own island, provide your own rules for yourself and also provide every single service you require for yourself. You depend upon the society you live in for your very survival, therefore you have to accept that you are not the most important person alive, nor should your preferences and wants take precedence. You are a nobody, just like me, a number in the IRD, your not even a star or a VIP.

People are people - in the Force or out of the Force, in the Ghetto's of South Auckland or in Parliament and there are good and bad everywhere. You will find you will enjoy life much more without so much angst if you develop a more pragmatic attitude.

I guess you have been bit more lucky than me with the unwanted attention & patronising, but at the same time i must admit i did get away with some rather "naughty" speeds too so maybe iam being unfair and need to see the bigger picture.
But i understand and agree with the rest of what you said, and not sure if i come accross that way but i never implied iam "better" than any of you or that i deserve different treatment, i know we are all just IRD numbers or employee numbers etc..

Also your solution of more pragmatic attitude is a good one for sure....

You will persecute us for the smallest of mistakes whenever you get a chance to make up for all the "cocks" that got away.... and we will try to get away for all those times you punished us for nothing, thats the way it is and always will be!

This guy just changed the score +1 to bikers...your move now!

Whats this "you" crap... You don't even know me, or what I do, exactly....

There isn't a blitz on bikers. I am meaning a blitz where any biker, anywhere, will be stopped for WOF/Rego and license checks, any where, any time. Not just at the occasional bike rally.....

Still to "lose" a pursuit. Pulled out of plenty, coz we have to these days.... but got my man every time.... and not a single one was a biker....

As for "taking it out on some other cock..." get real. What has one cocks attitude got to do with anyone else?

Kinda like your attitude toward all cops, I guess. It is how YOU see things....

While reps are able to be given by everyone it's my humble opinion that those who don't know how to use em should not be given the privilage.
Rep's while not important in the overall scheme of things do tend to indicate someones standing in the KB community, after all it's only us rating/slating each other.
If you drop reds that easily your'e probably in for a long haul here as eventually common sense will prevail and you and those of the same ilk on this thread are are not exhibiting much of that currently.
236 KPH anywhere other than on a race track is madness and indicates a total disregard for anyone else using that stretch of road.

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder for whatever reason and are making sweeping generalisations about ALL motorcyclists and ALL police. From what you say these generalisations appear to be based on YOUR personal experiences. Your life experiences are just that - yours! They're not mine, and not anybody elses. If you feel aggrieved for the way you've been dealt with in the past that's your feeling not everybody elses. So you look a bit silly ranting the way you are and trying to lump everybody in together. Also you don't seem to like people disagreeing with you, so you probably haven't liked this either. Oh well.

As for my personal experiences - I can only recall one tosser of a cop. That was many years ago and he was a young spotty MOT cop who was full of his own self importance and wasn't at all happy that he lost the argument he instigated with me. Since then I've had no problems at all - I've had a few roadside bollockings (that I've deserved), I've had a number of tickets (that I've deserved), I've had a number of polite warnings (where I deserved a ticket). I've also had contact with the police outside of anything traffic related, where I've required their service, and found them to be great. Maybe the approach has something to do with it?

Of course, they're also just people. Every organisation has its share of good bastards and tossers, and everyone has their good days and their bad days.

Here's an idea, why don't you apply to join up and fix the problem you perceive from the inside? Or is complaining easier?

Never been accused of arrogance in 25 years.... Unless it's behind your back 5 minutes after one has driven off, as is often the way....

And do you think the laws really back us up????????

I have had two broken noses (a King Cobra Gang member during a brawl and a pissed "off duty" cop), a busted thumb (a shithead on a stolen bike who tried to crack me over the head with the helmet he had), disarmed a knife wielding arse who wanted to stick me (coz he was showing off for his mates), and a few smacks to the face (one while stopping a wanker kicking over motorbikes while on plain clothes beat duty... boy did he get a surprise... :innocent:).

Never once started anything, with arrogance or anything remotely like it....

And the biggest penalty dished out for any of these?

A $300 fine. And that went to the cop (who also lost his job...).

Careful there Patrick, you'll have people thinking you don't have a sweet ride just sitting around handing out tickets and actually deal with real people and real situations involving scumbags...
