hi all, went for a ride today just down at a park and took my mate with me to let him have a turn on my bike. and he had abit of a spill and put a rather large dent in my expansion chamber!! bloody idiot i guess thats what happens when you let other people ride your bike. iam gutted cause my pipe was mint!! and now its freaking ugly. you guys got any good methods of fixing this?

make caps for either end with a connection for a air hose, use a regulator and compresser and put 80psi in it, and heat the dent with a torch or gas plant

some people freeze the chambers full of water, never worked for me though

We did a cr125 pipe in the freezer not so long a go, had a pretty big dent but came out mint. Just repeat a few times till it's good, and don't block the ends just balance it in the freezer.

Worth a try, it's free!

Me and my mates often swap bikes for a change when riding and have a rule we are all aware of.....you wreck something....you replace it,any offer from your mate along those lines???

Agree with rupe as i was the one that did it. Works well worked out thought best way was to bung up the larger intake to the pipe and leave the small end open also make sure you put a bag over each end you'll be surprised what comes out once the pressure builds up the oil residue in pipe will be forced out.

Oh ans be careful not do over do it or you'll find it'll split wide open ice/water can be powerful stuff.

Isn't that just a rule of thumb with bikes you break you fix or pay for same as you want to borrow best you able to start it as well. Joys of a 450 people cant be bothered trying to start easy when your use to it.

may pay to leave in till tomorrow arvo can take a while for the larger part to freeze up. if it works but you dont get it all out or enough thaw out till the ice is loose refill and do again.

you want to check it pretty often, once the main dent pops out there will probably still be some water still to freeze so leave it to long and the pressure can and probably will split the pipe. I think it all depends on where the dent is, how much you fill it and how long it takes for the small pipe end to freeze over. Once the small pipe end is frozen (leaving a water fall in your freezer) if you can shake the pipe and still hear water sloshing you need just enough space in the pipe to allow for the remaining water to expand into ice and pop the dent, without splitting the pipe. I speak from personal experience!

Check to see if it is totally frozen...if it is then I would try with slightly more water. It is a trial and error method...put in just enough and the dent will pop, too much and the dent will pop and you will also split it somewhere.

no just block the intake its large and take longer to freeze the small end will freeze up and create the pressure. make sure the bung you fits in nice and tight i use teflon tape to help it seal and wedge it in. PS dont forget to put bag over each end as it can cause shit to squirt out makes a mess of the freezer.
