A Jet fighter pilot flys his Typhoon aircraft towards the cargo ramp of a C-130 Hercules for a photo op.
He radios: "How close do you want me?"222513222515222514

"Close Enough?"

you'd think with a camera like that the quality of photo would be a little better

Hair-raising stuff, good find.

Which reminds me, there is a pic of two F14s passing a destroyer with sonic boom rings of spray behind them. It always impressed me but can't find it. Anyone?

Barring smoke and mirrors, if the camera* is in the photo it's unlikely to be the source. :-)

* I was going to say 'or operator' but my thumb has featured in plenty.

There was* a photo from that shoot on airliners.net.

Not a bad effort from a Typhoon pilot. RNZAF kiwis did a similar shot in a C130.

Somewhere I have a photo of a RAAF F18 doing that past some of the RNZN frigates when I was in the Navy...

And I have a similar photo taken from a P3 looking up at a French naval vessel. Scared the crap out of them because they weren't expecting us.

You are not very far away from the truth EJ!
TOPGUN was filmed in pre-CGI days, so what you see on film is all real.
A lot of the actors were sent up in a Tom with cameras mounted in the cockpit.
