Over the Christmas period I have been giving some thought to venturing forth on this road.
The last time I passed tis way was December 2008 with 4 wheels underneath not 2.
At that stage a large portion of about 20 kms appeared to be in course of preperation for sealing.
Before I venture forth with the St I would like an update if anyone is able to assist me

Is this Gentle Annie ?
Yes...and No...
The part of the road in the middle (The hill after you cross the river) is called "The Gentle Annie", after a woman who operated stables/inn etc at Kuripaponga.
It is not the whole road.

Update;
Rode the Gentle Annie today and it is sealed all the way through.
Seal is pretty good but lots of corners have loose chip on them and the condition of the road at the Hastings end is not as good as the Taihape end.
Not much traffic. I reckon I would have seen less than 10 other vehicles on the road.

I am delighted to hear this. I see that the Capital 1000 cruise is heading through that road in November. I am thinking of tagging along.

Be aware that in places the new seal is failing, and in others it has not been swept.
