Hmm Arizona... I hate that place. For the most part it's flat dry and very very boring. Least the rest of your trip would have been interesting unless you went through lower Nevada and such. Colorado must have been fun, Washington state and Oregon too. Nice mountains there. Can't imagine Alaska being that warm even this time of year but then I've never been there.

Have fun with the rest of your trip and yes please to the pics.

Just remember don't call Alaskans "Americans". All the Alaskans I've met see them their country as not being a natural part of america rather yet another illegal occupation.

Looking foward to some pics if you can manage it.

The one journey I always dreamed of taking is flying into canada, buying a bike and riding it all the way down to Buena Aires (sp). Taking long ways in order to pass through as many of the countries as possible.

Im back in Anchorage now. Had a great ride up to Inuvic , about 950 miles dirt road, it was easy compared to doing the Haul road to Deadhorse, had about 40miles of bush fires, the middle section between Coldfoot and Deadhorse had a section of about 80mile of corrugations as well as lots of wind, trucks, dust, not much sleep. Check out my thread on www.advrider.com Ride reports Kiwi heading to Alaska , hopefully we might get some Pics on there soon. Cheers Toddy

Yer I was all dirt roaded out after the ride up to Deadhorse - Prudhoe Bay ,1000 mile round trip from Fairbanks about 80% dirt . I thought I was getting hard but that road , wind , dust from trucks 40 miles of smoke from the fires stuffed me. The temp was just above freezin up there. Not much sleep as we had a party with some bikers , one from Dorkland .Brad .Photos didnt work again on advrider site so you guys will have to be patient. Cheers Toddy

You're nuts Toddy. Isn't Te Anau cold enough for you this time of year?
And why couldn't you have packed the CBR in your luggage. 1000s of kms of dirt roads, ideal for the CBR. Take care and next time try a road trip where it's above 4 degrees

Toddy is going to look real bagged out when we next see him, have you seen the lack of sleep and the amount of 'socialising' he's been doing? not to mention the miles he's ridden!! :ride:

Good luck Toddy and keep the reports coming in  .

Told Hans you had been in contact - will pass the message on.

Still following your reports on the AVRider site.

Bikes for Kids rally at Roxburgh in the weekend was good, the biggest so far.
A bit nippy riding home what with the fresh snow overnight and the frost. (Would be worse up your neck of the woods in a few months though!!)

The holiday is over and Im allready planning next years ride. Got home on Tuesday. I travelled 27,000 miles in Alaska, Yukon, NWT, BC,Alberta, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregan, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska,New Mexico, Colorado. The 2001 DR650 took all I could throw at . Only problem was the battery was loose in the box and chaffed the cable thru. I seen 5 rear tyres on bike plus 3 front ones.1 flat tyre. The highest pass I rode over was the Imogene between Ouray and Telluride in Colorado. It was 13,114 feet high, bike ran well at altitude as long as you didnt push it to hard on road. The hardest ride was over The Black Bear Pass in Colorado, the road tyres and high gearing for road made the really steep down hill section hard work. The bike is at my friends Condo in Arizona ready for next years ride. Cheers Toddy :Punk:

We will have to get together and you can look at the pics mate, how are you travelling over there. You can have a loan of my Nat Park Pass that will save you $20 per park or $50 for a season pass. I can give you a few tips on the best route to take. What days you off work mate. We are away in Oct as well , going to Philip Island for Motogp ,10days over there, I think it will be a Harley clean sweep mate,New Harleys are real cheep over there. Pull one to bits and bring it back in the car.Cheers Toddy

If you mean directions just go there and ask someone. Everyone there knows where it is. And if you mean wich club/bar is best you'll have to decide that for your own, though Trees was my favorite. Saw Drowning pool, The toadies and Union Underground play there before they got famous.
