I think i've invented a new off road sport, reverse motorcross.
Get your two stroke dirt bike, it has to be two stroke and pre mix.
No electric start or four strokes or bikes with auto lube for mechanical reasons.
Bump the bike off down a slope in reverse, two strokes will run in reverse.
Get some like minded idiots together and have a race!
I have tried it but can't decide if it's easier to sit facing forward and try to guess where i'm going, or sit facing backwards and learn to opposite steer.
My 05 yz runs ok in reverse, not fast but who wants to go fast backwards? and you get wear out of both sides of the tyre, brilliant!
Let me know how you get on and maybe we can start a series.

Only time I have succeeded in making a two stroke run backwards is when I sheared a key holding the magneto in place.
It really was not fun to ride. I walked out, and brought back the bits to fix it. It was that much not fun......

It didn't. Used to be a feature of old bikes with points if you got the timing severely retarded so it would fire pretty much at TDC. With a modern fixed position ignition I can't see it being close enough to start. You could of course slot & move the backing plate & a reedvalve engine would run just peachy. But this wasn't mentioned.
Come to think about it modern ign curve typically start ~ 17deg & then shoot up to ~ 30 at 2000rpm so the spark would happen 30 degrees after TDC with an expanding chamber. I can't see it working even a bit. The timing can't fire before it gets to the pulsar coil. It isn't psychic:shit:.
Full advance means no delay; so if statically set at 30 deg after TDC then Idle would be 30 degrees + advance to make it 17, - but going the wrong way would be 43 degrees 17-30=13. + 30 static =43.
I call bullshit.

This is absolute balls, anyone whos ever tried riding a bike switchback or fakie will know how impossible it is, theres no way in hell you could do it on a running mx bike.
Story and "new" sport are both bullshit

It'd suck to be on the bike that did it, but damn it would look awesome on video.
