Time had come to get rid of the Vmax and take the plunge on a new bike ,
gotta love the handling , braking , performance and the smoothness of this ride .
I did test ride a couple of HDs but not for me plus im not into the HOG scene i wanna ride this baby , so who has 1 of these and are u nearby ..

a good choice gunrunner. They still seem quite few & far between (not like the over-populated & over-rated HD's). I'm down here in Ch-Ch & have only met one other rider in the 14 months I've had mine. I know there's a few around, just don't know where they're hiding.

Have clocked up just under 8000ks on mine now, was a bit dormant over winter, but weathers come good so plenty of riding ahead.
Any plans for any mods?

There is a black one in the area that is often seen outside the Aberdeen Bar. Very nice too.

I've been riding in a rather mixed group of bikes and riders lately and among that number is a Thunderbird. For a cruiser, I'm very impressed with the way it scoots along and the handling seems exceptional for that genre of bike.Doesn't seem much disadvantaged amongst the sporties and Nakeds.

Good bike,Good choice, enjoy.

It's a great bike, I’ve had mine a year now and done about 17000k's, I ride it almost every day. There are a few of us T-bird riders in Wellington but have yet to ride in a group with one.
I have added a few extra chrome bits to mine and will probably add more over the next few years may even add the Big Bore kit not that it needs it but because I can :)

Enjoy your new ride and hopefully I will see you on the road one day

me.. its not as grunty as the others I have seen or heard. Went on a Rats ride last week and I saw 16 or so Trumps on the run. But the Kmens Poker Run, Wgtn, what a sight for sore eyes, Thunderbirds/Trumps in every model, year or colour... mm
However, I saw a new Trump Rocket being dropped with a pillion on it, ouch on another run. Mind you, went to replace reg plate light with casing... ouch was quoted 295 dollars for it, had "Triumph" on this little plastic thing.
But Im v happy with the "Bird"..

I've been running my 1600 on 95 octane for about 4 months now. It runs much better than the first few months I ran it on the 91 that the manual recommended. Much more responsive.
What are other owners using? Thoughts?

The milk man has one & loves it. He traded his 50 polishes better than new Rocket III against it due to reliability worries. He popped in to say hello after his first run on it & i was gob smacked to see he barely had any chicken strips, maybe a couple of mm.
I'm still waiting to have a shot on it though.

My brother in law has one Rangitikei way. Bought it last year (2010 model) and chromed it up. Included a pillion back rest for his wife. He had a Trophy 900 before. Just loves the T'Bird over the Trophy.

Hey there Gunrunner ... very nice bike! Im sure you'll get hours and hours of pleasure from that baby.
I had a test ride on one a few months back and loved it! Suits me perfectly. The 2011 model is in my sights tho. I did fall in love with the 2010 but its now 2nd best lol

Ah yes, I would like to trade mine in for a 2011 (the Thunderbird Storm will do fine), mainly to get a factory 1700. Think I'll just end up getting the big bore kit fitted later this year though, it'll work out cheaper.
