Rusty bottom triple

Photos of a rusty bottom triple clamp. Assuming easy enough to remove yourself, take it to a local panel shop to have the rust removed and repainted / anodised (or whatever the hell is on it). OR does it need any special treatment?

Also rust spots on the top of the forks. What is the correct way to remove and repair?

No, just de-rusting and repainting. Best is sandblast, epoxy primer, eurethane top coat.

Remove axle, pull front wheel, drop forks and send away to get checked for straighness and re-chromed.

Sorry, can't remember the name of the company... Hamilton way.

Sorry to hijack your thread Dave, but I re-coated those CRM's and re-packed them last weekend. Interestingly, after 3 1/2 years, the exhaust packing was still in very good condition, so you'll have no worries with yours.:msn-wink:

Great to hear progress and see the results. The mufflers came up better than new by the looks of it.

I'm not happy with the replacement midpipe bob sent over. The part that connects to the header is welded in 2 20 odd degree angles - not a smooth bend up. I wonder if that will cause a heat spot or impede flow.... Will post a photo when I unpack them.

I still haven't had the time to donwload the current map and upload the arrows high mount (as a starter). Will hopefully get some time to do it in the next 2 weeks.

Dunno if I like the sound of that either Dave:scratch:, though more for aesthetics than any possible issue. I'd certainly like to see a pic of the mid-pipe.
