I think you'll find the designation (SH22) is to do with where it is, not its length...

Thanks - forgot about google maps capability to do that - I tried a few online jobs and they all went to waitomo.

Doh - i thought it meant corners per Km.

I think 22 would be a gross underestimation if that were the case...
Interesting thing about 22 - I much prefer to ride it north than south...either way, it can seem very long some days.

From the intersection of Waingaro Rd, Ohautira Rd and SH22, heading north, Mapsource says 62.5km to the bridge, then a total of 87km to Port Waikato (depending on where exactly you stop the route of course).

I think this is a trick question.

Yup. That would make SH1 grossly under-described...:scooter:

The real question Big Dave, is why'da wanna knows for? And ditto for previous poster saying how it seems longer some days - must be a spatial disturbance in the time warp continuum there somewhere!

SH22 can feel a bit long if you're heading North from Wellington via all the back roads to Birkenhead, especially if it's your first visit to the road. However, GSXR1000 mounted, heading south on a very rare invite from the Fightclub to join them, the road is far too short.

Highway 22 starts at drury. And I consider it to end at the raglan road (SH23) So 110km from drury to SH23.

The maps I looked at indicate it starts at the Port Waikato turnoff.

Couldn't get a park in my main street the other day because of all the over weight motorcycles AMPs sold to their customers.

From the Raglan road up to Waingaro is all 22 as well, I think. A great road on a nice day, but always a few dodgy patches, lumps and craters etc. About 100 kms from Hams to the port. Love it!
