View Full Version : Name suggestions for my bike

Ok I know some of you out there don't personalise your bikes, but I have always named mine. To me they are more than just a piece of machinery.

So, I'm trying to figure out a good name for my beast because neither he nor I like the name I originally chose for him. I would like something Celtic - and it does need to be masculine. The poor thing got a bit confused with his sexuality when White Trash was riding him and kept referring to him as 'her'.

See my profile pic if you wish to gaze upon his splendidness!

I'd be one of few whose bike's a male. Does not have a name just a gender. The Drake as in dragon.

Celtic. Biff might have some ideas. Cei would be a good pick. It was Cei (Ky)who looked after the Hidden Prince (King Arther) in his youth.

Might be something here http://www.isle-of-skye.org.uk/celtic-encyclopaedia/celt_c2b.htm

They sure can!. Li'l Rat Bike jabbers away all the time - tis like being stuck with a hyperactive 12 year old. The Whale just sneers at me and points out (in a very supercilious fashion) all the mistakes I just made.

How about naming him after your fav actor, singer or someone who you think is all that! That way, at least the name will mean something special, to you.

Having looked at the photo of your bike in your profile I'd have to agree with Frosty. Black Betty does seem appropriate.

However if you insist on a more masculine name then how about Black Beasty? :devil2:

An unkind soul, toward the end of a long and boozy Blackjack session, suggested my bike should be called Rattlestar Galactica. To add insult to injury, same person also cleaned everyone out.

Perhaps the bike needs a few more outings to see his characterisics.

I called mine Little Flick - small and red - but he is now being called Rollerskate by my husband, after a long weekend of riding (bikes).

Sven's a great name!!!

Sven the Viking rowed his longboat across the North Sea to Scotland.
In an amazing piece of seamanship he moored at the base of a 100' cliff, leapt off the boat and scaled the cliff.
He saw a village in the distance and headed towards it.
He knocked on the first door he came to and a woman answered.
"Excuse me" he said "I'm Sven The Viking, have you been raped lately, has your village been pillaged, your men killed and your livestock driven off?"
"No" she answered
"Oh" he replied and headed back to his boat.

He rowed down to England and in an amazing piece of seamanship he moored at the base of a 150' cliff, leapt off the boat and scaled the cliff.
He saw a village in the distance and headed towards it.
He knocked on the first door he came to and a woman answered.

"No" she answered
"Oh" he replied and headed back to his boat.

He rowed on to Wales and in an amazing piece of seamanship he moored at the base of a 200' cliff, leapt off the boat and scaled the cliff.
He saw a village in the distance and headed towards it.
He knocked on the first door he came to and a woman answered.
"Excuse me" he said "I'm Sven The Viking, have you been raped lately, has your village been pillaged, your men killed and your livestock driven off?"
"No" she answered
"Oh" he replied.
He paused, put his hands on his hips, turned around and said,
"I wonder where the guys are then?"

Good suggestions. I was looking at something with the word Dubh in it yesterday. What's the actual pronounciation of the word Graih?

I'm not good at pronouncing the Gael.

I think something like graii uh with the a sort of a soft arr and the i quite hard. And the uh that funny back of the mouth sound that English doesn't have .

So , Englishing it and slurring a bit (as one does) , and putting the dubh last,

Grar eye dou . Which is actually easy to pronounce if you do it fast.

But if a Gaelic speaker says I'm wrong, believe them

I always thought your bike had a very "Darth Vader" look about it. What with Suzuki ownership being termed the dark side. But then again Vader would have to be a black 1000 me thinks.

May the force be with you.
