Hi all,

I have a GL145 that i need to increase the idle speed a touch.

It has a carb that im not sure how to do it, one that has the throttle cable do directly into the top of it.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

There might be an idle screw to adjust somewhere on the carb. Take a looksee and if there are any screws, have a play around with them. Remember where they were set before you shag around with them though...(damhik)

Failing that, can you adjust the cable at all? If there is a cable adjuster, tightening it up a little might be the go.

Don't listen to such rubbish. taking the slack up in the cable is simply dangerous.
find and adjust the idle screw like he said in the first part of his post

There will be an adjuster screw (probably with a spring behind the head of it) going into the side of the carb body where the slide goes up and down in. It has a rounded end that contacts a diagonal ramp at the bottom of the slide which lifts or lowers the slide. Something like this one here.........

Completely shithouse advice.

Suggestion removed on the grounds that it was "shithouse" and "rubbish"...:o:

if its that sorta adjuster I'd recommend always adjusting it down, otherwise you can screw it into the side of the slide and dent it.

edit: to get ahigher idle you would twist the throttle to move the slide out of way, then screw in adjuster.

thanks all, there were lots of screws to adjust all over my carb.

the throttle splits into two, one goes into the carb, the other goes to the thingy that you can turn with ur hand to make the engine rev.

in behind that was the idle adjustment screw.

Cheers :) no more stalling at the lights!
