I carry the cellphone in the tail bag. It links to a Blueant Interphone speaker in the helmet.
Today I am pootling along out the back of nowhere and I hear someone start talking to me through the phone. I stopped so I could hear properly and get the following...
Me: Who's speaking please?
She: You've dialled the 111 emergency service...
Me: Shit! Have I? How the..? What? Hell, I'm on a motorbike -the phone is in the tail bag - I nevva dun nuffink!
She: Cellophones can dial 111 even when the keypad is locked.
Me: Bugger - mayhaps I better see what is going on in the tail bag - could be gremlins in there! DELINQUENT gremlins!
She: Oh well, you are OK then? (Obviously musta though I was being held at gunpoint or summat...)
Me: Nah - all good - sorry about the cock-up.
She: That's OK - just as long as all is well...?
Me: Yeah - ta. I'll check the phone...(hang up).
Get off bike, open bag. Phone has climbed out of its pocket and is banging around next to the air pump...through some fluke it bloody dialled 111 and there ya go....
I better chain that phone up...
First time for everything...:bye:

There's not many cell-phone users who haven't accidentally dialed 111 at some stage.
The universal 111 over-ride of the keypad lock is a major piss-off - it should be a programmable opt-out feature.

Yep, mine's done it while in my pocket and with the keypad locked. Did it about 3 times in a row and I only learned about it when they rang me back...

My 1 year old daughter dialled it from the house, they then rang back to make sure all was ok after only hearing gurgling sounds! She said that if it happens again they charge us $6!!

SIX DOLLARS?!!?
I've had my share of accidents ha ha.
Let a little toddler play with my old phone - because it was old and at the time was just my ICE phone.
I guess all they heard was the tykes dad shouting "WHAT are you DOING?! YOU BETTER PUT THAT DOWN!"
Tee hee!

Heh. I wonder if I could do that to my kids. One of them had managed to get to TradeMe, accidentally bid twice, then managed to do a buyout on a 2004 Holden Commodore.
Hmmm.
That makes me wonder. If I could block all sections of TradeMe except for the bikes I want, maybe I can swing a few more past she-who-must-be-obeyed.
"Honestly honey, it was the kids!"

My old nokia used to be able to dial 911 when locked, it redirects to 111.
