I wandered into the bike shop the other day and asked the lady for a 'throttle rocker' wasn't sure that such a thing existed, or what in fact it was called. But they had one. It clips onto the throttle and has a nice bit for the heel of the hand to rest on, I find it bloody great seeing as how I have a bit of arthritis in my right hand, in my thumb joint. I have tried crossing my arms over but it's a bugger to steer like that. I'm still not sure what it's called but it works good.

Yes they are good alright, I have used one now for three years, on long runs they save a lot of strain on the wrist...

I used one for a short time to train myself to relax my throttle hand. Drawback was being lazy and not fully closing throttle round town.

Scottoiler do them but I suspect they're a 'stickered' crampbuster

but it moved on a long trip and his throttle jammed open. Kind of an ugly experience, especially on a Rocket 3.
Personally I wouldn't touch anything that has the remotest possibility of interfering with throttle, brakes or steering, but that's just me.

I've used one for over two years now (it's the Scottoiler type pictured in this thread). It's never moved or interfered with anything.
I use it because I have extensive scarring in my right hand as a result of duypetrens surgery and holding a narrow throttle for long periods of time causes the entire hand to lose all feeling - which is not very good for controlling a loonicycle.
I did have to shorten it when I went to the gixxer so as to stop it hitting the tank on full lock. Other than that, trouble free. Better to have that on there than to try to ride without feeling in the right hand...

I got one due to an elbow injury, it definitely helped relax the strain on my elbow. Now that the elbow seems to be a lot better I've taken the throttle rocker off. I'd consider putting it back on if I was going to do any long non-twisty riding.

Ditto on the not closing the throttle fully, had a couple of hairy moments as a result.

Mine was $10 from Holeshot, although I think it was a no-name brand it does the same thing as the named brands. I saw some of the Scottoiler ones at Cycletreads last week, didn't check the price on them though.

Little plastic doohickey made by White's Powersports. I can see that it could be a bit of a problem if the hand got a bit twitchey round town but I'm sure I can get used to it, double good on trips. Have tried to post picture but using dial up, which is a pain in the rectum, not sure if it's worked.

Not sure if it's possible for this one to stick, but if it did I'm sure it would be a 'change trouser' time. On a Rocket 3 it would take you into orbit:shit:

They do not stick the throttle on that is almost impossible, you would do that by yourself, what happens is if you set them to high when you roll the throttle off it only goes as far as your wrist lets it now that can lead to a problem, as you would still have a lot of rev's working..

I have to laugh there's even chrome ones for hogsters, I'm surprised they don't sell them with tassles.

so how do these work exactly? do you rest the palm of your hand on the end and weight the throttle that way?

Yeup, allows you to grip the throttle less tightly. You can flex your clutch hand most of the time, but if you try on the throttle, it backs off.
Otherwise called a Throttle Boss: http://www.aerostich.com/throttle-boss.html
I have one, don't use it all the time, usually for the boring stretches.

are you able to have one but for the thumb?
Which would be the best for everday general use?

You can put it wherever you like on the throttle. If you want to use your thumb on it, put it on the inside end of the throttle...
I have it on the outside end and just use the heel of my hand for control...
