Had a set of midsofts on the front, and midhards on the rear. Been a great tyre although the rear is starting to wear a bit now, but still keeps hooking up.
Got back from riding hard pack clay with a couple of soft bits and noticed I've ripped all the side nobs on the rear, and most on the front. Has anyone else had similar experinces with these tyres, was keen to get another set but not if I'll rip them up quickly?????

Yep, I'm pretty sure I mention which, MX midhard on rear, MX midsoft on front.

Yes, I had a mid-hard scorpion on my CRM and after a couple of hours on a hard pack surface it had started peeling away on the left had side. I am unhappy with it and will not buy another; the middle knobs have barely lost their edge.
A faulty tyre? Or just poor choice?
As a replacement I am using a Bridgestone M404. Very good tyre. I have another Pirelli at home, instead it is an eXtra; hopefully it lasts a little longer.

MotoZ tyres are supposed to wear really well, there designed for aussie, so if they work over there, they should work here

Are we talking front or rear? Coz 30 hours on a rear tire and it's still fine? And it's a mid soft? Fucking hell!
I have found mid soft rears to be a waste of time, 5-8 hours and they're pretty well trashed. I like the Pirelli Scorpion Extra though, they seem to last damn well. Although even one of those would be well beyond rooted by 30 hours!

i've been running Scorpions most of this year. The front has been awesome and still has fairly square edges.
The rear 454 midhard seemed to develop cracks in the side knobs pretty early on, however is still in pretty good nick and should now be reversed (if i can get the motovation). From memory i think the front is directional
Guess i have done about near 30 meetings on these tyres

The first section of my post was in reply to little.whittle, as quoted. Not to you. His response is below....

Bloody hell, that certainly is a good run! As I say, I've never thought much of them myself but that almost makes me tempted to try again if I saw one at a good price.

I put a mid soft on before last winter and it lasted all through the following summer as well. Not sure on the hours but I'd guess that the 30 stated would be not to far off or even a bit light. I did a a medium amount of riding last year and Rupe knows how I ride. Only changed it because I was doing a race at the time. Its still out the back and if I was just doing trail rides it'd still be ok??
Got a MX extra on now so we will see how long that goes for over summer? Should last better and grip as well as I would notice?? So im told?
EDIT: OK just checked my Bike Hours and Maintenance spread sheet it says 44.1 hours fitted on the 19-4-09 taken off 20-6-10
The above includes Wires track, I fitted the MX extra for the T100. I think the 200 might be quite kind on tyres and I don't let the bike wheel spin like crazy when stuck in roots etc!

I had trouble with my last scorpion, outer knobs all tore off. Doubt i'll go back to them.

i get various ex-race (just rounded) pirelli tyres off a mate, and they can def. take a beating. They do chunk out the side knobs on the 250, or even a 125, but thats after a good 50 hours. Normally only chunks off the front half of the knobs, then ya just turn the fuckers round and get an extra ride or two.
the mid hard extras do alright in the winter as well, with about 5psi in them they go anywhere.
however i find the extra fronts to be a pile of shit

I haven't tried an extra on the front as I got told to put a mid soft MX 32 with the MX extra on the rear, so I did and it seems to hook up good both ends. So from what I was recommended you are right!!

iv been running a bridgestone m403 intermediate on the front and have been pretty stoked with it. had it on riding tough enduro through mud and pine needles during all that rain a few months back, and have been riding it in this dry dusty shit since. it was second hand when i got it, it still had its edges, at least 30-40hrs later and it still looks new minus the hair things.
if i were to buy new tyres, id be getting an extra on the back, m403 on the front.
