Thanks, Aaron. I'll pass it on.
Ray has never ridden a motorbike in his life but he loves the sport. My dad used to take us to watch the Ulster GP at the Dundrod circuit in Ireland back when we were kids. That was today's MotoGP, with all the world champions, in the days when they raced on real road tracks. We have watched Surtees, Redman, Agostini, Read & Ivy, Hocking, Hailwood and the rest ....... :). Amazing! I reckon I'll do Greymouth next year. I've not raced on a road circuit and that is what they use in Ireland. I've been to most of the Irish circuits to watch.
I keep coaching Ray on taking photos and he flukes the odd good one :). "Monkeys, typewriters and Shakespeare" is his line! :)

He is taking better photos all the time, but has he stopped eating the ribbons out of the typewriters and pissing on the keys yet?

Hi Daimien, Yes they are great photo's I didn't realise how far up the grass (54) I had to go to get around the mayhem, its a pitty it all turn to custard about lap 7 and up in lights, I was more pissed that the battery failed at lap 142 as I was getting ready for another go although in hind sight it was probably a good thing. My collar bone is broken to places and I'm hoping for Taupo I 'll just harden up a bit.

I'm quite prepared to help your collar bone by riding your 50 in the F5 GP. Would offer to help out with the F4 bike as well but I've seen what it did to you last year.

You are a hard and keen man. Maybe you need a "be kind to ol' b'tards" sign on the back of your bike? My sign about wide bars seems to work - at least nobody knocked me off or clipped by bars when passing this time out - or last time. At Taupo they will all be able to read it as you sweep past! You went past me at Taupo 2009 like I was stopped! Mind you, I was so sloohhohohho that I nearly was. I hope the shoulder is ready in time. I know you and your bike are very fast there. I will also be faster this year - Taupo 2009 was my first bucket race and I had bike & carb problems (I was only able to race after Henk came to the rescue - Henk gets my award for the N. Island bucket champion of making sure everyone gets back out on track!).

You will have to take a tilly lamp and a packed lunch on the 50 at Taupo are you going to the fun day, if you are give my FZR (F5) a go Avalon was getting 31's before the stinger popped.the meeting before

Yep we'll be at the fun day.
I'm a bit scared of your FZR having seen your tasteful photos from last years TRRS, the fact that last time I spoke to you about it you said it didn't go round corners isn't helping. I would however like to take it for a spin, suspect I'll be well slow out of sheer terror.

What? You mean everyone isn't packing lunch to ride around Taupo? I've almost figured out what book I'll be reading, but have decided whether Mills & Boon or Harlequin romance is the best bet. I did think maybe whichever I could find in large print for these wrecked eyes would be best bet and never mind the title/publisher (it's all crap, but I'm impressed I can think of two crap publishers haha).
Hmm, tilly lamp, that's a plan, I thought a GPS might be a winner as at least when it's dark the picture changes colour.
Righto, time for me to start planning my attack (apart from mobile chicane).

Nah last Taupo was the original GP frame and it was hard work, with all the gear changes at Mt Welly and the handling I don't think I ever did two laps with the same lines but it did win B grade for me acouple of seasons ago. The FZR is like an arm chair in comprasion. Neds bike is real quick the simple fact I am old and unfit I was just pacing myself as we wanted to break 200 laps shit happens Pumba was straight over and aplogised reckoned I could punch him out if I wanted (he must of known I was broken) Ha ha it was a mistake it happens . I was talking to JC and I will run the line for him and he can be the steward as he said a couple of years ago they didn,t break even (14 bikes) sunday they were 69 payed up he needs a hand and I'm sure it will be cleaned up if he is watching and not running the line.

Last year was the original GP chasis and that crash convinced us we had to find something better........

And lucked onto two FZR rolling chassis for our GP125 engines, so the last year has mostly been about building new bikes, next year it's better engines hopefully .... :)

Thats what I thought when I saw that pic. Dosen't look that safe.
Le Mans starts are great when you have electric start or kickstart, but for safteys sake, a limit on how far the pusher can go onto the track if the pig won't start needs to be looked at.:gob:

Tim watching David D and Gary C fight to the finish line on the last (20th) lap of the Nth. Island 2nd leg race to complete the 4-round series for 2010 (I missed a gear and got in their way as they came up to lap me!). Tim was about to be the series winner and was obviously enjoying watching the action from a comfortable 4th? place in the last race on the last lap. :done:

I hear we might even have a 5-round series in 2011. I must say that the highlight for me was visiting all the other tracks: Kaitoke, Tamauranui and Roy's Hill. Roll on 2011.

Great result Grant, 15th wasn't quite what we were expecting (especially considering that start ). Leason learnt, we wont take a tea break next year. :innocent:

Hi Damien, Yeah they are great photo's I not sure about the ones of me as you can see the dropped shoulder and as you progress through you can tell I'm slower by the angle of the lean through the corners. I thought I would update you on the condition, and after a five day wait I had a plate inserted last tuesday, discharged wednesday and back at work thursday. The surgeon said it was like an explosion had gone of in my shoulder not to move it for 6 to 8 weeks so I will not be riding Taupo but I'm sure Avlon will ride it. Hope you go well at HD tomorrow.

Hmm.... Nasty indeed. How could you ride at all!!! :not:
You would have been looking forward to Taupo too :(. Avalon should go very well on your bike.
It must be painful, but if you can race with broken bones I'm sure you can handle it!

The strange thing about it is apart from the second ride it has not been painful infact I haven't had any pain killers at all. I asked the surgeon if there was nerve damage or if he put a shunt in and he said everything else looked good and no need too. On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the worst it was about 7 on the ride and by the night it was about 3 next morning 2, after surgery 1 its just frustating not being able to use it so it gets a chance to heal if I don't it will give me grief for ever. I've got to say everyone from the Surgeon down at Middlemore couldn't have done anything else for me they were absolutely wonderful and I can't thank them enough.

Thanks for the photos. It looks like the field was a lot bigger than when I raced the two hour in the 80s (No 24 Honda CB 125T).
We didn't get to see a lot of photos in those days, digital hadn't been invented yet HeHe.
I had a lot of fun but wasn't very competitive, I found this out on the old Taupo track, way too slow.
I will make an effort to come out to Mt Wellington and check out what is happening these days
Cheers Martin
