I like the way I starched my bike when it tipped over and my neighbour had to help me pick it up.
I like the way I made a traffic jam stalling trying to learn clutch control.
I like the way I wear goofy high vis.
I like they way I just don't care if I am taking it easy on bends and car gets up my ass.
I like they way posers look at me dirty and speed off at the lights when I put it in to second really ruffley.
Why do I like all this? Well I simply don't care what you think. I am having way to much fun to care.
Today there was this horrid man on a Harley pulling in front of me so I stopped and he pulled up to me and looked me in the eyes then spat on the ground.
I said "got a small dick there mate" then I started to pull off and he cut me off again.
Why are there so many dam posers.... I am just trying to enjoy my new bike! Leave me alone. I don't care if your bike is 99999999999999HP and costs $99999999
I don't care if your the next ghost rider. Your not cool. Your a dick. Go away.
Hope however was reads this.

ha ha, unfortunately alot of those "i likes" are not all newbie moments.
Geez, that's pretty harsh about the harley rider..... gang member maybe ? just watch what ya say tho, he coulda been a gang member high on crack !
I don't know about Harleys but some car drivers are arrogant cnuts but you can usually spot them a mile away.
Right attitude tho, just take your own sweet time !

 I found car drivers to be quite rude when I had my L plate - they get up your ass and honk the horn when you stall at the lights.
You need a riding buddy who will be your "rolling block" and be behind you.
My husband used to do that  was funny - one time I stalled at the lights and was tooted at - hubby got off his bike and told them off.
As for the guy that spat at you - thats pretty weird and horrible!
Anyway - we were all learners once - maybe that crusty old man on the Harley can't remember that far back - probably killed too many brain cells.

Lol too right... you tell him!!!
I felt the same way riding, first ride on a CBR with a lost L plate :innocent: through Wellsford, on the main road to Auckland, and I was doing 100km (bad me)... but I was terrified... a car up my arse, and had lost my cover bike.
I have learnt just to ignore them now...and ride in the middle of the road. I pay more rego, so they can beat their chests, regurgitate, and put up any finger they want...

Yes - ride in the middle of the road - when I started, I kept to the left but people in cars would drive next to me in a single lane!

I have always ridden in the middle, I have always thought if they want to get around me they will eventually. In my 6 mths with a L plate, I had only the one incident, whew.

Three things:
1 - Learn to pick up your bike yourself - there won't always be a helpful neighbour around
2 - Learn hill starts on a deserted road devoid of traffic. It wont always be a car you piss off, it could be a truck that can't stop in a hurry when the bike in front stalls trying to get away
3 - Enjoy your riding. Ride your own ride and damn the rest of the world.

Yes - practice hills starts - do it a lot! I used to worry about stalling but just do it again and again until it is something you can almost do without thinking

Yer, keeping to the left is a rully rully bad idea.....
I aim to sit in the right third of the lane so I can be seen in both rear view and side mirrors. Given that undertaking on the left is unlawful it is less likely you'll face that, sitting over to the left is just too tempting for most car drivers (or other bikers who blast past leaving you in their wake!)

Yes, it was nerves - I was scared silly on my first road ride on the trusty GN250. I soon learnt to claim my part of the road.

First lesson, never starch your leathers or you will never be able to pick your own bike up:niceone: Enjoy your riding, stalls and all and don't worry about riders like the miserable, grumpy old Harley Rider, he has probably been sitting on the thing so long it has burst his haemorrhoids...:doctor::yeah:

I am a happy L plater too! I love your attitude. I have adopted the same. Stuff everyone else around, I pay to be on this road too. I do practice my hill starts on quiet back roads though. Just less pressure. But I have been in teh city and had to do a hill start at the lights....and stalled. But that was ok. I took my sweet time, did not get flustered and just got on with teh simple steps in my head to perfect the hill start. As for where to ride on the road....yes, we do pay more than the car drivers, but I respect the fact that if you piss off the wrong person, it will hurt me more than them if I kiss the pavement! I stay in the centre of my lane, but let traffic past if they are behind me. I know that following an L plater going 70 must be frustrating them too!

lol i was like that, this one was my fav "I like they way I just don't care if I am taking it easy on bends and car gets up my ass." i remember that happing to me turning right in wellington from the train station... when i had my fxr150 lol, cars were right up my ass, the best thing to do is.... just go slower to f** them off. naa don't listen to me, i have road rage its in the family lol
anyways i had all the same things happen to me, i don't know what the problem with people everyone seem like they are in a hurry to get somewhere......travelling to work and home. can't even enjoy a nice speed limit ride in the sun enjoying the bit of wind ..... and there is always someone up ya rear..... reving up and down... i just look in the mirror and pull the fingers... F** them just enjoy your ride..
anyways Welcome ! and be safe
