would this be a good first bike for me on my full licence? I've been riding a 250 ninja til now - they can't be too different can thay?

Bit steep with your pricing mate. There are selected dealers out there selling new ZX14's for $20k at the moment.

In this case the price is actually quite high for a 2006 model. I've seen these as low as 11 - 13,000 with extras and lower mileage.

Yeah i'm not sure how Alexandru has based his pricing but it's far from unusual to see 06/07 bikes with less km on the clock going for $13-14k and some even have a set of aftermarket cans already. I'd love to see them still at the price Alexandru is asking but the truth of it they just aren't that expensive but man do you get a whole lot of bike for the money!!

mmm...
fuel consumption indicator.
How many kilometers does it do to a tank normally ? and how many liters go into the tank ?

Depends on your right wrist but anywhere between 100 :innocent: and 300kms per tank and that's with some mods.

Hi Marty,
It's a huge difference between this 2 motorbikes from power, speed and acceleration point of view.
From the throttle point of view, the manufacturer took care to make a good balance between bike's strength and its stability.
It has, for second and third gear a torque control, so the bike can easily be controlled.
So, everything depends on you, how patient you are, and how much want to accommodate with this new bike.

To everyone that think my price is too high, I give the following explanation:
- I didn't see any new bike (ZX14) sold by a dealer, under 23 000.
- I love this bike very much and I really treasured it.
- I didn't use the bike in hard way, I did the best maintenance possible, therefore all the parts (chain, engine, clutch, transmission....) are as immediate after running in
- I've done the running in very, very carefully, because I wanted to keep the bike for life. (a long life!)
Unfortunately I have to move countries and expenses to take the bike with me are too high.
Anyway, the price is not a fixed one, I am waiting for offers!

The tank is for 23 liters and with this you can ride up to 310 km.
This motorbike has something interesting regarding its consumption: out of city, if you ride constantly, at about 115km/h, you'll have a bigger consumption then a constant speed at about 150km/h.

No one is trying to get on your case mate, it's good that you've looked after it and that will help sell the bike for sure but the things you've mentioned unfortunately won't have a huge bearing on what you'll be able to get for it, check out trade me at the moment there is a couple of similarish 14's for sale privately going for around the $13-14k mark. Yes this is only an indicator but a fairly reasonable indicator, as I said good luck with the sale and I hope you're happy with what you get for it. I hope you get what you're asking actually because that means mine would be worth more than I think it is.
