Only 6 weeks to go before kick-off.
Motorcycle entries are closed, and entry list goes up on the Dakar homepage this week.
Our main men are still on KTM with the new 450RR's of course.:woohoo:
"Cheleco" Lopez sticking with Aprilia.
Casteau stays with Sherco.
Fretigne and Verhoeven now with new Speedbrain BMW 450RR team.
Okay homos, check this out.....
Laia Sainz and her team mate. Think Stefan Peterhanssel Dakar days, Jordi Arcarons, one of the old school boys is helping out and want her to win the female title. He's managed Marc Coma last couple of years and is climbing back in the saddle this year.
Good to see Jacob Smith (Australian Safari winner 2009) is lining up with his GHR Honda team this year, his goal, a top 10 finish.
Quinn Cody, winner of Baja 1000 is lining up on a Honda too.
SBS TV, I'm tuned in, unless something better in the way of usual crap Sky coverage comes up.
Mmmmm, Laia Sainz, close ups please TV people.

Some free to air tv decoders pick up SBS. Others like mine can apparently be tuned to pick it up. I have some old footage of the Safari from SBS screened on Southland TV which whilst short & sweet is a hell of a lot better than th eX factor.

Do you have any frequency/satelitte details for the free to air decoder tuning? I could play with mine and see if I can get it.

Ta, I suspect it will require a bigger dish than I have and or dual LNB but it's worth a try.

Day 1 and 2 now completed, some good results to see so far.
Reuben Faria has beaten Cyril Despres in both stages but copped a time penalty (for speeding!) LOL, which puts him behind Despres. Marc Coma running 3rd.
David Casteau on the Sherco is making a comeback after a steady Day 1, Chaleco seems to be a bit slower this year.
Heres the best bit, Jake Smith (22year old Aussie) is currently in 19th place ahead of a lot of seasoned riders. Ullavalsetter for example is 27th overall.
And Eulalia Sanz top female is running in 37th, less than 1 hr behind Despres!
Annie Seel is 61st.
Great stuff, and for those without SBS links, you can still watch stage highlights on

And as he's Despres'sss water carrier, he would have had to slow down on the next stage anyway :D
