Her smell
Her looks
Her feel
Her sound
I'm in love.
I'm a Cheshire cat.
I sit drooling awaiting the parting of clouds :violin: to just drive her up and down my driveway. It's all I want in life.

Is that your green ninja? If so  I am jealous, I always wanted a green ninja - I can see why you would be in love:love:

Yeah, I decided when I found her on trademe that she would pop my motorcycle cherry and that she was perfect.
Now she sits in my garage, and my garage undeservedly houses her.

My 1st bike was a Matchless 350....
Didnt sort of turn it on.......
Kicked the hell out of it..
If that didnt work i pushed it...
The spark plug youst to blow out every now and then....
The front guard jammed in the front wheel and spat me off once..
Those were the days...
No brakes...........
No commonsence...
No teeth. :shit:

mine was a scabby old RD200 Yamaha known as Mrs Scrack-Thing after the Goon show character. It was bad tempered, kept seizing, had appalling brakes, a flexi frame and a narrow power band that meant you were either hanging on for grim death or getting overtaken by bicycles going up hills.
Fuck I loved that bike.

Yerrr...well I didn't "turn on" my first bike either - another "kick shit out of it" type like the Matchy mentioned above. It was a 1953 Ariel 350cc single. Made of solid iron. Weighed about a ton. Good for about 60mph flat out...on a good day....downhill...with a following gale... If you touched the back brake the entire wheel locked up totally. No suspension to speak of. And various other faults as well, too numerous to mention.
But it went. And I thought I was pretty shit hot on it at that...

Inspiring, although starting with crap wouldn't be a bad idea cause you only get more and more impressed as you go through better and better bikes.

First bike I learned to ride was a 2 stroker, rs250. I admired the design and all that crap. But what I most vividly do remember is the "FEAR" that came on every time I jumped on it. I was scared of it! It was addictive, it's like watching a horror movie except every time you turn away you immediately turn back in order not to miss the jolt!

Ha ha ! Dunno bout the being in love and cheshire cat bits, my first experience of two wheels was markedly different from all that. :innocent:
When i was sixteen ( yes i can remember all that way back :violin: ), my parents promised me a new, ( well second hand ) bike as i had been banging on about it and hassling them for ages, so straight after my Birthday my father took me to an old farm where the guy lived, was advertising my stunning aquisition.
It was a BSA stepthrough moped, ( you had to do a manditory year on a 50cc machine before progressing up to 125cc :angry2: ) with no gears and a petrol tank that was inside the tubular frame of the bike :scooter:
That moped had a top speed of 30mph, and it did that speed everywhere ! over roundabouts ! round bends ! and in built up areas for the twelve long arduous months i had to endure it until i eventually swapped it for the immense Honda H100a which i used until i passed my test first time at seventeen :done:
I suppose it is no wonder that now all the bikes i own must have a minimum of four numbers in the name.
Over the years i have been lucky enough to own some truly world class machines, and am very much looking forward to picking up my latest thrill toy in mid December, a 2007 Honda CBR1000rr Fireblade ! :wings:
I have only been here since October and after talking to some guy in a bike shop that me and the Wife went to visit, i found that over here you can jump straight on and learn on a 250cc here!!! :gob: I know for a fact that if it was like that where i was back then I'd have even less mates than i do now, back then the machine of it's day was the Yamaha FS1E while you were learning then it was progression to either the Yamaha RD250LC, the Suzuki GT250 or the Kawasaki KHZ250 Triple :scooter: now here you can jump on one of those Hyosungy thingy's and do 170kph ! :thud:
What seems even more madness is they punish large cc bikers with the new Rego charges, makes a bit of a mockery of the whole system eh.
Anyhow, after that nostalgia trip down memory lane, whatever it is you are all riding, stay safe y'all. :ride:
Cheers,
Chaos. :devil2:

was too long ago to remember the first bike I rode, must have been umm lets see...about 40 years ago. I do recall screaming down the road on a farm bike when I was about 10...got a hasty lesson about changing gears from Dad when I got back to the house. o well, we all gotta start somewhere eh?
I do remember the first bike I ever owned all by myself..a Honda Lead, 125 scooter. The bike I did the worst damage to myself falling off, CT90. and my first 'real' bike, an early CB400NC, and then the first of the big bikes, mid 80's Z1000 LTD..lost that one in a crash, but now have 3 of them in my shed waiting to be fixed and on the road. O happy days! not long now. { she says while trying not to dribble from anticipation} Honey, once you have the bug, it like malaria, it may go into remission from time to time, but its always gonna come back!
Get yourself some professional rider training from a qualified instructor. Their knowledge is worth its weight in saved skin, trust me on this... Mostly, mind your manners and have fun.
