for someone who knows shit. and since posting realised its not an 02 sensor, but a air intake temp sensor.

for shits and giggles im pulling the stock air box off the scooter. Now it has an electrical plug going to a plasticy probe sensor that sits inside the airbox - . now if i unplug it, scoot starts and runs, revs fine. Is it imperitive to keep it on there somehow (will be sticking a pod filter on the end of the rubber inlet) or leave it disconnected, or put a hole in the rubber hose and stick it in...

and while im here, the crankcase breather hose, can it be left hanging? or does it require the suction of the intake for airflow?

Its a FI scooter btw.

EFI systems try to keep going until they run out of fatal inputs (crank sensor etc). The inlet air temp sensor won't stop it, but it default to a rich setting, which will affect fuel consumption. Gimmy jam it in the air filter will be fine. Hell, even outside the air filter will still work.

Yup, leave 'er plugged in and tape/cabletie/glue/hang it in the vicinity of the filter.
With the breather, stick a filter/bit of foam/one of your stockings over the end to keep the shit out and she'll be sweet.
