Why is the cut off point 500cc ?? . Junior classing takes it to 600cc under normal ruling . Are you just trying to be a bit diff or do you want the 550 - 600cc guys to simply try harder to beat the open class bikes ?.

....no...just waiting for a post like this so that the classing can be sorted...CAMS being a classic club has never had new fangled stuff like Pre 89 to sort out...noted and will be discussed and acted on... cheers...when Pre 82 came along some years ago, our club dragged its heals over inclusion of that class...eventually we were able to drag it in with a lot of dissension from the dyed in the wool old time classic brigade...it seemed to take a long time to get anywhere with it, because of this....CAMS would like this class to hit the ground running down south and any thoughts from up your way where it seems to be going strong are welcome....

What I have always wondered is - Where did the Pre 89 class evolve from? Why not pre 90? Just wondered........

End of the decade, and before a another major change in technology (USD forks) which was not really prevalent. ZXR400's were the only proddie bike, and some speccy works bikes or like with early Ohlins and WP's
Class structure capacity limits are structured on F2 style cut off, but allowing oversize for wear on multi cylinder 2 strokes. ie RG400's / NS400's with bore job are in, but RG500's are out given that's what the RG and RZ raced like here at the time.

Pre 89 includes 89, same with pre 82 and pre 72
I think it started out being called Period 72 and 82 and the name just changed over the years.
Someone will know the ins and outs of the name

Given the Wyndham result, if a 600 wins outright does he get the Open trophy too?
The gorgeous Moriwaki Honda in Teretonga pre 89 is said to be coming up for the Cams Xmas meeting but possibly not for this January meeting.

.....a young rider from down here cleaned up a club day 89 class...not the biggest field but with some big capacity 89s ridden by some pretty competent riders , on his cbr250r....the winning margin was that big that it looked a bit silly, on paper....whatever we do...it wont be right....guarantee it...

Oh, I agree....and if Sid brings the OW01 up from the South it will be interesting to see if he can master it on Ruapuna.
In any of the post classic classes rider ability counts for more than engine size.

Those classes sound good cos a fat bugger on a 400 is enough of a disadvantage against other 400s let alone 600s:facepalm:.

...will be a big weekend at Ruapuna with CMI running round 3 of the Sth Island Cup the day after...there will be no moderns running at our CAMS meeting...time restraints make this decision an easy one for us...

Yeah it was run as scheduled at Teretonga the weekend after the late snow/flooding.
A few of us made the trip and were treated to great weather when rest of Sth I s was shivering.
Thats southland for ya.

It has now been removed from the MCI website. One would assume that it is no longer being run.

Farking good show CAMsec, your a c@#t BUT ya a good c#$t, thanks for the help today.
Considering I hadent planned on racing at all I ended up in 3 classes, buckets F1 pre 89 and F3 pre 82 (I think the new structering of classes is a bit confusing, but it will sort out and fall into place soon nuff)
Man I love that 400 Duc of Thunders, was on the arse of black betty most of the way, its like a over sized bucket.
any ways thanks to Thunder, T Mak and camsec... I could get used to rocking up late and having a pit bitch do 'all' my work, even had my drinks brought for me, bikes supplyed and entry paid... I cant be such a prick after all :niceone:

...sez who..yeah it was a great day D...thanks to all who came out and made it that way...one off that reqd the ambo and a check out at hospital...couple of oil drops, not from the classics , either...too hot for me...the 350/f feels like it just come off the shop floor in '72...great trying to stay in touch with the fast buckets and streetstocks...never got near you lot...great on the inside but that straight has the loncin gasping for breath near the end...

...as far as the thanks goes, thanks, but CAMS has a truly odd thing in this world...a committee that works well together and laughs a bit...probably one of the best team of flaggies around headed up by Steve Orpwood... and a huge percentage of the reason our meetings work well is down to him...its also, even tho we are a classic/post classic club, really enjoyable to be involved with the neat young people who race streetstock and buckets and who dont mind throwing their leg over a classic, too...today was the second time Ive raced at a CAMS day in bloody near a year, but it was a good year of running around with clipboards and shit and meeting the newer and younger riders...we have a very strong racing fraternity down here and it looks good for the near future...we're onto the Methven shit now..yee-fukn-ha
