Following last month's tragedy at Hampton Downs, MNZ is undergoing a safety review for road racing events at the raceway and havenot been able to release the event permit.

AMCC apologise for the inconvenience this is causing competitors who wish to enter round 3 of our club championships but be assured that as soon as the permit number becomes available we'll have the entry form posted on this website and our facebook page.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

From the meeting last night;
at this stage we still do not have an MNZ permit....however the meeting is likely to go ahead.

If this is the case the entry form will be on the web site http://www.amcc.org.nz/home later this morning.

The question asked is how can the permit exists for the Tri series round and not be granted for a club series round. All will be sorted today.

All you young riders take note.
If you work hard and apply yourselves, invest in yourself early on and market yourself around like a cheap wh..... you too might find yourself in a race team that will fly you from Hamilton to Hampton Downs.

Ahh, how the other half lives ay? :gob:

Isn't that because the Tri Series application was in and approved months ago??

Hope this goes ahead. I know I've been putting in lots of time and effort preparing for this meeting, as I'm sure many other people have.

Sorry - the entry form has not been updated - that was the original close off time. The AMCC will accept entries with no late fee incurred up until 10pm Thursday night. They need to get the entries through to Tim Gibbes Timing on Friday otherwise the club incurres an extra $10 per rider cost.

10PM THURSDAY 2 DECEMBER ENTRIES WILL CLOSE.

Where do you use 31 marshals and what MNZ regs set out how many you need?

you'd be surprised! because hampton downs is such a technical track with so many corners, we have to have that many unfortunately.

Hi all

Please be aware that the pit area at Hampton is still a construction site. After being there on the weekend, I recommend that all competitors pit on the concrete skid pad. It gives easy entry to the dummy grid and gives a big clear space to set up.

I have raced there so I am well aware of the track, it has less corners than Ruapuna though and even with two on each marshal point Ruapuna doesn't need that many

I take it these aren't just for the flag points? grid marshals etc?

And also don't forget that at Hampton the fabulous marshals do all the recovery too and a lot of the time it will take AT LEAST two people to pick up some of the bikes and then AT LEAST one person to tend to the rider. We all hope this doesn't need to happen - but if it does there needs to be the man/woman power to make sure it can happen quickly and safely!

There needs to be an annual appreciate your marshals day I think!

Where do you use 31 marshals and what MNZ regs set out how many you need?

Its simple,

To run an event under MNZ regs you have to meet all MNZ's requirements 'before' they issue a permit for the event. If they are not met prior to the event happenening or even during the event taking place the permit will not be issued or can be withdrawn by the MNZ rep at the event and the day cancelled there and then!

The regs are set following a track inspection or alteration or more recently an incident. Then those resposible set the requirements required to run an MNZ supported event.

All AMCC events be that club rounds, nationals or ART are run within the MNZ brief giving maximum protection for organisers and participants.

To issue Hampton Downs with a permit requires amongst many other things that 31 marshals are at the designated posts, this number was come about based on visability, proxiimity and number of hazards to name but a few.

As you can imagine gathering 31 inderviduals to do this extreamily valuable job is bloody hard work, they are often invisble to many but without their dedication and passion for the job they do, simply put, non of us we go racing. They are as crucial as the gas in your tank, so if MNZ say 31 marshals is what they want to see 31 is what we need to find.

I bring a young 'keen as' lad out to every event to work with Angela and her crew and he loves it.
Many of us have waved flags in the past and it makes sense if we want to keep racing to encourage others to do it too. Just think if 20% of us did the same thing how reasuring it would be to event organisers knowing they had the man/woman power available and not have to come cap in hand.

I for one really appreciate the tasks the marshals do and would happily support any initiative to formally recognise there efforts.

I'll pit on the skid pad if there is power available as I don't have a gene. Or else I'll be in pit lane in my usual spot.

Pity about the standard of commentary at HD. Ok its a volunteer job but if youre going to say something over a public address system for all to hear you should at least be a little researched and have your facts right.

''Jadens bike is basically bog stock''. Inaccurate misleading uninformed claptrap.

Funny I must have dreamt that Race Tech mid valve pistons are fitted in the forks, together with high flow base pistons. I must also have dreamt that we fitted a Race Tech flow seperator valve in the rear shock together with an Ohlins 40mm race car piston and shimming. Externally a bright yellow Ohlins spring and stickers.

This is one talented young man;

On the completely bog stock bike he was very quick but 'loose as'. The 'stock' rear shock would overheat and loose all damping, coming out of the corners was a wild ride.

What the mods have done has given him more control, the shock does not overheat and cavitate, he's even quicker and no where near as 'loose'. The 'superstock' suspension has vastly improved his times.

Traipsing over to the other side of the circuit was not an option. The onus is on the commentator about being sure of his facts, which he clearly wasnt.

If this sort of thing gets your back up, you're going to be an extremely angry individual by the end of our national points series. We may need to get Shaun to give you anger management classes in fact.

Every comentator at every track is going to rave on about how "bog stock standard" the Super Stock bikes are.

Get used to it and take a chill pill honey bunny.

In the same vein as ''fully adjustable suspension'' ?

Or Bill Clintons infamous line ''I did not have sex with that woman''

Or ''peace in our time''.........

Nothing is ever quite as it seems. Read newspaper reports of the event you were at and you wonder if it was the same event!!!

When the left side of my brain doesnt know what the right side is doing then Ill consider anger management classes. But Im not known for throwing tantrums, Im known for long suffering people that are predisposed to doing so.
For now, the commentator was uninformed and didnt take the trouble to be in command of his facts, despite clearly obvious external parts and labels. Id also be inclined to think because the same personality is very pro 100% bone stock that such public statements are almost deliberate. Pretty unethical if thats the case.
