Is there much of a sidecar racing scene here in New Zealand, I might look at getting into that. Any advice etc?
Cheers

it's huge (ish) dude... there's some spectacular racing to be had. A while back, there was a 'have a go' day at the Taupo track. I couldn't get there myself, but sounds like fun..
There's a pair of blokes that have a really old style motorbike with a side car, looks like a 50 or 60s sort of thing (probably a bit later than that, but it's just me..) and they do the races against the big bikes, but just go for the laugh. They're at every Paeroa meet etc, putting on a show for the crowds.. Tis a big thing tho, and something that's on most of the tracks.
Gotta have some balls to be leaning off the back of those things while they're screaming round a corner at stupid speeds and you're ass is scraping the road.. hmmmm

Are you sure you don't mean the sidesaddle racing scene?

Sounds like my cup of tea. :devil2:
I'm interested on getting on the track, I like to speed somewhat, and sidecars cause I like the sound of team work :).....Plus I get to have or be a RIO (Radar intercept Officer for you non top gun fans)

The Sidecar scene isn't that big here in NZ but at the moment there seems to be a bit more interest and the main problem is a shortage of outfits for sale
Do you want to ride or swing on it?
I'm having my fist season riding and it's not bad but hanging off the side is more fun and nowhere near as simple as you might think, technique is more important than physical strength
If you want I can put you in touch with some of the Auckland guys so you can go and have a look and maybe(if you're lucky) get to do a few laps

Riding I think I would enjoy more, but would like to try both for sure.
Do I need a full license to get a racing one?
